There was nothing wrong with the second season. It just wasn't as good.

A lot of people on /a/ hate S2, I never did, but I can see why.
You know how S1 was composed of short arcs where Hei tries to keep a new girl from dying while his past unfolds in the background?
Well S2 is that, but instead of 3-4 episode arcs the entire season is one 12 episode arc that focuses on the girl.
I thought it was alright and actually liked it, but it's probably best to watch and form your own opinion.

As for the OVA I haven't watched it yet, I'm waiting for bones to announce they're making more DTB, they have to be, just look at all the other old anime getting sequels, reboots, etc

READ THE MANGA IT IS THE LEGIT SEASON TWO

The OVAs are good. Even if you dont like the story it starts off with a fucking classic Bones-tier action sequence
Second season if you're curious, just be prepared for something entirely different.

MAKE SURE YOU WATCH THE OVAs FIRST
no fucking clue why they released them out of order. Usually theres some artistic/thematic reason for doing stuff out of order like in Haruhi or other LN adaptations, but for DtB it just made no fucking sense.

Watch OVA, then read the manga for the true S2
