It doesn't really help that most giants just seem to rely on their sheer size.

To be honest their weakness is only from our perspective and what little we've seen, most giants are gonna crush crowds of normal sized fodder, but there's a limit to be met once they reach the likes of skilled DF users and haki users.

I'll note that there's still a lot of good feats they've showed. Even when they were first introduced, two of them still came around and tossed a massive sea giant that even the combined strawhats couldn't defeat at the time. San Juan wolf's size alone makes him automatically strong. And Oars Jr was strong, but had the bad luck of having to face multiple strong foes.

Keep in mind that we haven't even really met a skilled haki using giant yet. We already seen what a haki monster such as pic related can do. I can't even imagine the sheer potential destruction that a big ass haki using giant can cause.

Even now, the giants that have been crushed by Big Mom are mere villagers, most of whom aren't that skilled at fighting. But still, remember how Big Mom stressed how important it was for her to have her daughter marry a giant. She was so sure that she'd gain so much power from Elbaf.

For her to even think this, would mean that she views it as a place with an EXTREME amount of power. Think about that, that a yonkou wanted to so badly get a good relation with this country and gain their military. It'd mean that Elbaf's able to go to war with a yonkou and damage them. The combined might of Elbaf and a yonkou would be presumably too much.

So yeah, Giants may not have had many good feats, but don't underestimate them too much. They're a rarity and the most powerful ones are undoubtedly in Elbaf.

Both of BM main dreams are related to what we saw in this chapter. She got the idea of uniting all races under one country from sister Carmel and the eye to eye stuff is directly related to giants because it was thanks to them that she for the first time interacted with people her own size or bigger.

About BM destroying at least part of the village isnt so much a knock on the giants side as it is to hype BM as a one of a kind super freak. As some other people mentioned giants make for great jobbers but at the same time the only actual warrior that we can see in that scene is still up and possibly about to kill her before Carmel probably dies to save her or something.

This chapter also opens up what is probably going to be the way the SHs get out of all of this by having Sanji and possibly Pudding depending on how things go with her bake some of that sweet for BM.

In one of the old nordic tales, Thor loses his hammer and it is found by an ice giant who holds it at ransom, demanding the hand of the beautiful goddes Freya in marriage. Since he doesn't actually know what she looks like, Loki comes up with a plan to disguise Thor as a woman and have him faux marry the giant in order to get the hammer back. I hope Oda knows his mythology and will draw some parallels to that.
