No, I did.
>>
>>157515580
It's not clearly expressed even in the manga, but if you want Ishida to marry Nishimiya, go ahead and imagine that.
>>
The whole last arc is Shouya's dream as he lies in a coma in his hospital bed.
>>
>>157515580
We never find out if they even consummated their feelings.
>>
>>157519858
Thats bullshit. Did the manga get cancelled?
>>
I want to have chex with her.
>>
>>157515580
No, they became tomodachi's
>>
>>157515580
I did.
>>
>>157519901
>>157519901
>>157519901
>>
>>157515580
the ending wasn't clear about it, but if your headcanon is that they did nobody will get in your way to tell you it isn't the case cause it's most likely what happened. Well that or she died ran over by a truck she couldn't hear honking.
>>
>>157515580
Did the author suddenly forget that the manga had two very prominent romance plot threads with our lovely deaf girl and that jealous bully bitch?
>>
>>157515580
>Romance
>They never even get together
Why is this movie/ manga so praised, it's just another bad mellow drama
>>
>>157515580
No, Nishimiya has hots for him because bitches LOVE a man who can abuse them, but she was super awkward at trying to tell him that they just dropped it.

I think mangaka either wanted to be "original" and not include romance in her Mexican romcom, either it's supposed to be "realistic" depiction of awkward pre-teen romance. Either "forgot".
>>
>>157520099
nice

its an okay drama, I think because the character has a disability it becomes a fetish
>>
>>157515580
They had sex, he impregnated her, then he got hit by a Japanese truck.
>>
>>157515580
How can he propose if she can't hear?
>>
>>157519858
Nope, it's just never really adressed. They even call them out for "flirting" in the last chapter and still nothing comes of it.

>>157520091
It is implied that Ueno still holds feelings for Shouya before she leaves for Tokyo to study fashion. After the time skip she gets mad at Shouya and Shouko for "flirting" so it is clearly a sensitive subject to her.

It also never gets addressed.
>>
>>157520091
I wish she forgot about Ueno after coma happened.
>>
Probably.

Ueno most likely ended up in soaplands or JAVs.

Since Shouya ain't using it!
>>
>>157520177
Its still bullshit that the author never gave resolution to the romance when Uneo's entire character arc revolves around her feelings towards Ishida and how those feelings made her a horrible bully towards Nishimiya.
>>
>>157515580
might be if she can properly confess
ueno might cuck for funsies
>>
>>157520208
Why even bring romance into the story if you're never going to address it?

Make Uneo just feel resentment towards Nishimiya because she felt like she was a burden

Have Nishimiya see Ishida in a platonic light (don't include the confession scene at all!)
>>
>>157519901
>>157520208
>>
>>157520285
lol seems like that was removed in the movie
>>
>>157520422
Wait is Ueno not in the movie at all?
>>
>>157520373
That would have been best in the movie.

Although they could still address it by using the contrast of their relationship at the beginning (when she confesses to him because she idealizes him) to the end (when she sees him for what he truly is).

Having established that there wasn't initial romantic intention in Shouya's part, they could then leave the future of their relationship open to interpretation so as to avoid being labeled as being "fetishist".
>>
which subs are good?
>>
>>157520470
Is the film more overtly romantic?
>>
>>157520461
no any sort of feelings
besides like her visiting him in the hospital
>>
>>157520531
That's smart. I'll give KyoAni props for streamlining a plot thread that goes fucking nowhere.
>>
>was expecting this to be as good as Your Name
kyoani cannot pick good stories to adapt wtf
>>
>>157520507
A bit less so than the manga. The ending to the movie is a bit more open ended on what happen in their relationship, so it doesn't feel as unsatisfying like in the manga.

>>157520531
Her feelings for Shouya are very clearly implied in the movie, though.
>>
>>157519901
The story just kind of meanders off into "oh we must find and reunite the entire class from elementary school and either apologize, help them out, or tell them to fuck off". Then someone tries to kill themselves. Then it ends. There's no love story, no anything other than weird forced drama.
>>
My problem with the story is that the ending doesn't fit how the author wrote the characters, especially Ishida.

Seriously reread the manga, Ishida's emotional investment in Nishimiya is overwhelming and extraordinary. His attention to her isn't one of a platonic friendship. (The fucker learned sign language when it wasn't a garantee he'd ever see her again!)

The emotions displayed in the story are too intense and passionate to just be coming from a former bully and his former victim. Their bond is shown to be one of if not the most important thing in their lives currently.

Now I'm not saying that a story about a reformed bully asking forgiveness from his female victim can't be platonic, but you have to approach it from the right angle. This story didn't do that.

Hell at the end there's even a plot point on how its important that Ishida and Nishimiya go to Tokyo together.
>>
>>157520950
>Hell at the end there's even a plot point on how its important that Ishida and Nishimiya go to Tokyo together.

And they fucking drop it for no reason, just because he wanted to take care of his mom when based Pedro and his sister are already there.

They could have ended the whole series with them going to Tokyo and it would have been great.

I also wished they wouldn't have decided on just being hairdressers.
>>
>>157520950
>boy/girl comes away from suicide due to the power of friendship/accquiantences
shitty shounen in melodrama form?
>>
>>157520950
>The emotions displayed in the story are too intense and passionate to just be coming from a former bully and his former victim
Womyn. Mangaka probably gets off by drawing doujins of Shouya bullying her.

That, or redemption fetish.
>I want him to beat me, threten with a knife and then kiss me
>because he loves me :3
>>
>>157520186
>I think because the character has a disability it becomes a fetish
threadly reminder that KS is on its 3314th thread
>>
>>157521144
mixing doujin with story
when did she like him much less getting wet
>>

This

People think that this is a cripple girl fetish but its actually a bad boy gone good for girl fetish story in disguise

>>
>>157521272
I bet Shouya getting Nishimiya wet first time they met after years was an allegory.
>>
>>157521437
eeeeh not really
>>
Faggots. She didn't blame her bullying on anyone but herself and she loved Shouya as a kid. How fucking dense are you?
>>
>>157521982
>falling for bully episode
>>
>>157521982
>and she loved Shouya as a kid
My problem is, why? He was fucking retarded hothead, if we follow the logic that she loved him when he was doing nothing but tormenting her, then Nishimiya is a crack whore biker chick material.

But then it turns out she loves Shouya who seeks redemption too, it's like, why.
>>
I mean the last chapter of the Manga has a timeskip of them in the future at a sort of "coming of age" ceremony and they end up holding hands while blushing in the last couple panels. I would assume that implies the start of something more.

To me personally I think they end up getting together, etc.
>>
>>157520950
I agree with you wholeheartedly anon. I think there was definitely love there that just wasn't blatantly spoken. It was in signs and interactions between the two. It wasn't thrown into our faces with direct words, but literally everything Shouya does for Shoko isn't based out of regret and apologetic feelings. The guy obviously loves her and feels terrible in a sense for loving her after what he did to her.

>>157515580

Helps define a character.
>>
>>157515580
If you think that the bridge scene at the end isn't a confession and not realized that they already dating at cultural festival then you probably as dense as many harem protagonists
>>
>>157515580
I wonder what it would be like to have a deaf wife.
>>
No, the author went to the trouble of setting up romance plots the just ignored them
the series was very sloppy narrative wise and didn't even bother tying up all the loose ends

I'll admit, I had to actually look up the image cause I didn't have it on my HDD anymore. Tried looking it up in the archives, turns out that was part of the 2011-2015 blocks that still haven't been recovered
