There's two points to Eva:

1. The Hedgehog's Dilemma is very real and effects us because we don't love ourselves enough to let other's see the true us.

2. Even if you hate yourself now, maybe one day you won't, and that's enough to keep living on. Stay hopeful.

Everything else is fluff. The Christian imagery is purely stylistic.
