I thought it was ~~pretty decent~~
It works well enough as a standalone piece, so you can still enjoy it if you haven't read the manga

as another guy that has read all of nihei's works and watched sidonia and thought it was good enough adaptation wise, blame was very good on the picturing of it, but they mshed it up together in the chapter of the electro-fishers, adapted a lot of plots, changed the mood to a more popular mood, nothing as close as dark as blame was, and they did it.. it's decent.. but the manga is untouched.. the dark magic of the real cyberpunk of the most depressive / creative period of nihei's life is still there..
