In the first 20 episodes, Yusuke vs Gouki, Yusuke vs Kibano, Kurama vs Genbu and Kuwabara vs Byakko are great fights that didn't end in asspulls. Also, arguably Yusuke vs Rando and Yusuke vs Suzaku.

Actually, they already stated that some energy returned to Kuwabara after Byakko exploded. As for the pole thing, it's materialize, a weapon Kuwabara could manipulate. If he could change the shape and size, he should alter it's properties to have some elastic effect. Besides, it's believable enough that he just used the sword as support and the animation was just being weird.

Sure, you might not think it's much but these are enough to trump any modern action series nowadays. Point is, the fights are creative and it's fun to think along with in how they'll win.

The motion in the shot isn't centered around the sword though, it's primarily in the camera.
