that's not really the case. Most of Oda's problem at the start was that she was too OP. Any fight she engaged in was over in seconds because she snapped the person's spine. To get around this, Oda made her fight enemies whose spines she couldn't break, either becuase they were too big (Oars, fat bastard), too flexible (Diamante, the eel) or a logia (aokiji). Unfortunately, when that happened she was unable to do anything, so as a result she ended up either winning instantly or being unable to win, so oda relegated her to being a plot device

It'd be nice to see her taking a more active role in combat moving forwards at least, though her out of combat contributions are important of course. Her powers are definitely interesting, if not suited for combat in the same way that the more prominent fighters in the Straw Hats are.

That being said, it would be interesting seeing her get fights similar to Brook, in the sense that she fights the enemies a step down from Sanji and Zoro, or helps them or Luffy out with their fights.

I like the idea of someone being able to form constructs around the battlefield, melee attacks from afar with a relatively vulnerable main body. That way her fights could be a balancing act of tactically using her ranged-melee abilities to harm or incapacitate her opponents whilst keeping her main body away from them. Similar to cracker in a sense, but less hit and run and more position, attack, re-position, repeat. Still, just seeing her do much of anything in combat would be nice at this point, it was nice seeing Nami being useful in aiding Luffy's fight against Cracker for example.

I could absolutely see something like that happening, doubly so if family ties and abandonment issues play a big part in Big Mom's flashback. I could see many of her children wanting to protect her at all costs in the wake of Bege's rocket attack, how successful that is being key in all that.

Some of her less favoured children could take the whole situation as a chance to escape, whilst others who are more prominent stick around to protect and look after her if she survives or look to consolidate power if she falls.
