I read the comment a long time ago but I remember the Golden Boy author saying that everything Oda writes is dictated by his editors. Basically that the guy is a complete hack and for years he's let his editors run his manga for him. I read the manga and I disagree with that there's too much overall consistency and planning for that to be the case. Either way, people seem to post shit about how Kubo and Kishimoto had beef with him. I just want to know if there's any truth to that or just friendly rivalry. I know Kishi said in one interview that his biggest rival was Oda.

Also, I don't really think it's fair to say Oda is a one hit wonder. The only thing he's ever made has been One Piece. Not including those one shots he made before One Piece was serialized. It's not like the guy has had the opportunity to try something new.

There's no source for anything about Kubo/Oda rivalry or dislike, but the "rivalry" between Oda and Kishi is definitely a friendly one. I'm pretty sure Kishi even bumped OP when Naruto finished, telling his fans to read it and Oda drew pic-related.

Well, the thing I looked up took Oda out of the equation, basically I took it to mean he can't enjoy reading One Piece because he sees all the editor influence...it doesn't mean he has anything against Oda, just that he can't enjoy the series even though he sees exactly why it's a hit, it's like his Michael Bay Transformers

The Kubo thing is perceived because everyone tries to pair Bleach with One Piece but really they were different generations, Oda's best friends were people from when he got started, like any mangaka that works hard, he probably closed himself off to real life once things got busy so he doesn't get new friends and just has the same old ones like Shimabakuro (who debuted the issue before Oda)

You've totally misinterpreted the Kishimoto thing as they are like best friends, it's a rivalry in the Zoro/Luffy way not the Sasuke/Naruto

The webcomic isn't even all comedy or parodical. There's a lot of drama and action in there. Murata and ONE just refined the series to make it more well rounded and give it a unique visual style rather than basically being Mob Psycho but with superheroes and monsters instead of psychics and ghosts.
