I just finished S1 of Pripara and holy shit, that was some goddamn ride.

The only complaint I have is the absence of a variety of songs throughout the season. Spicing it up by doing different coords, inserting talking lines, and scene transition cuts helped take out the dullness, but it was still noticeable.

Character dynamics, the dual lives of regular and PriPara, dramatic moments, and comedic moments were all very well maintained and balanced and in some cases, a huge improvement from Pretty Rhythm. And having watched Aikatsu also, I could certainly tell that they took inspiration from that.

Me too, but it always sucks when not everyone can watch with us. Remember when Pripara was pretty much dead in these threads due to the lack of subs. Same went for Fairilu and Cocotama. The only thing that kept us alive during those times was Aikatsu having timely subs every week, since 2012.

So I finally finished watching Pripara and I like it more than Aikatsu. I love the jokes more (Ajimi, Lala and Sophie were joys to have on-screen), I love the characters more, I got more invested in the characters more due to the higher stakes as well as the more story-focused nature. The only real complaints I had were that there was less song variety and season 2 sucked because Hibiki was a terrible antagonist.

If you look at the previous quarterly reports of Bandai sales, they had initially predicted Stars would recover from the final fiscal year of OGkatsu, but that wasn't the case at all. It only made around the same amount of money. Bandai isn't going to even bother releasing a new toy this year, and Aikatsu's sales are going down in their predicted numbers. Stars will be two years long unless the wings make enough to change their decision.

However the only reason we even know this is because Aikatsu is still a top IP for Bandai, so another reboot is more likely than an outright removal. According to anecdotal evidence, no one played Aikatsu in arcades toward the end of OGkatsu, but there were plenty playing Stars. They're going to reuse those upgraded cabinets.
