I use mpv and this is the profile I set up in the config file:

I'd use it to force it to white instead, for all those yellow-tinted subs of old that I depise. Fite me.

I'm legitimately considering going through autism of extracting subs for all episode of the original OVA and running a script on them to change styling of dialogue to white regular, thoughts to white italics and narration to white regular aligned to the top of the screen.

Read the manga.
If you're desperate, watch the third of the Golden Age movies since it adapts a bit farther than the old anime and actually includes Skull Knight.
You can safely ignore the first two movies however, the first one is on the same CGI tier as the 2016/2017 CGme and the second one is half-2D/half-3D and doesn't do anything that the old 97 anime didn't already cover.

Depends. For a TV mecha anime it's easier to do CG, you just can't animate the battles on time without them being QUALITY. But for simpler shapes it seens redundant and looks much worse usually.

You need a really good visual director who will make the cgi fit into the style and pick good colours and designs. I didn't mind it in Tiger&Bunny for example.

How big would LOGH be if it was one giant book, around the same length as War & Peace or a little bigger?

will the new battles take place in a 2 dimentional plane, like in the original, or will they take place in full 3D, like they should (because they are in space), i hope they make them 3D, the original only had 2 of those, they were the best ones

The first three volumes are as thick together as the first two LotR books or the entire Brothers Karamazov.
Page counting isn't really applicable here, since the lines are quite loose and there is a lot of empty space in the English releases.
Judging by the novels' average length so far (Around 280-290 pages) its around 2800-2900 pages long. Which is longer than both The Tale of Genji and the Chinese classics Dream of the Red Chamber and Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

LoGH is around 1200 pages if we were to trust the new translated books from 2016.
And War and Peace Is around 1400 pages.
So i guess they are pretty close in length.

Now i know it's retarded to count the length of a book using page count instead of word count, but i can't be arsed to search for that.

Also War and Peace isn't that long in the grand scheme of things.I mean there are books that are 5000+ pages long .
