Around 5 years ago I read a Japanese article that estimated Takeuchi(his wife) makes about ￥400 million ($5.18 million) a year off Sailor moon. The same article estimated Togashi made about ￥1.2 billion ($15.5 million) a year off of Yu Yu Hakusho alone, not even considering Hunter x Hunter. I think the article was actually even before the 2011 remake. Even if he get's bare minimum royalties off his two most popular series, say 10%, it's still likely he makes tens of millions a year.

His breaks differ in length but usually they're like a year each. They're due to his chronic back pain that leaves him unable to sit or do anything other than lie down for like half the day, so he's started pumping out content when he's in good shape then doing nothing while the pain is really bad and he can't sit for longer than a couple minutes at a time. That said back in September last year there was an interview in which his assistant said they were planning on doing 6 months worth of chapters then beginning to release them when his health got bad again so that there'd actually a steady period of releases for half a year. Hopefully they stuck to it, half a year of uninterrupted HxH would be great.

ZOLDYCK THEORY/SPECULATION DUMP

As Wing told Gon and Killua, Nen categories are based on how you are raised and are also based on hereditary reasons. The Zoldyck family seem to stick to a very strict training regime as children, which would explain Killua becoming a Transmuter as his training as a kid would be near identical to the training Zeno and Silva undertook.

One thing which is never explained is why Killua is the heir to the Zoldyck family. Killua is said to have fantastic potential, so perhaps the Zoldycks value strength over everything else? That would explain why Silva is the current head and not Zeno, as he is in his prime. Maybe the personality that comes with being a Transmuter is what is most desired for the head of the family. Either way, Zeno is not the head and Silva is, which means Killua should be the head once he hits his prime.

It would explain why Zeno was prepared to sacrifice his life during a job, his life was worth less than Silva's because he is out of his prime.
