I just finished the game.
What did you guys think of that ending?
I thought it was decent. I kind of wished they'd deviate from the formula a little bit somehow but whatever. The last palace with the tower of babel rising up from Shibuya had amazing atmosphere. I liked the final boss and everything. The final speech made me kind of cringe with the shonen-ness of it but it's not as bad as P4 everyone spout nonsense against Adachi. The ending song had a kind of weird, different quality to it that I liked. And I really loved that they don't end it in some train rolling away thing. Taking a trip in the van was a good touch, it seems fitting for the phantom thieves group. I honestly feel like they might be even closer as friends than even the P4 guys.

I was satisfied with how things got tied up, although the main thing I was interested in throughout my playthrough and what drove me to the end was wanting to find out what/who Morgana was. I don't know if it makes a difference between playing Japanese or English dub, but I never disliked Morgana, which I've read quite a few people did, but I really liked Morgana all the way through and was happy with the ending there. I think I was kind of burnt out regarding the whole Shido plot by the time I got to his palace.

I have to agree that driving him home in the van felt a lot more friend like than crying running after him in a train and I like the idea of a last roadtrip sendoff. One thing I disliked had to be the lack of impact of rank 10ing your team or the wardens. You get little bonus scenes with Tora Takemi etc at the climax if you maxed them but it seemed like it didn't matter at all that Yusuke and I were bros for life and that I never touched Haru with a 10 foot pole. It acted much the same for both and the Lavenza twist felt like it overran any meaning of raising them (though I hear that's how you get the bonus boss).

Morgana was ok, but a moron. I got a bit annoyed at him in Haru's chapter because he agreed that everyone should be settled together on invading a palace and when they weren't and figured they should get more info he shits on everyone because of his own insecurities.

I really didn't like that they had to tie Madarame and Kaneshiro into Shido, or that Shido was the guy who got you your assault charges.
Goro being one of Shidos rapebabies and you basically preventing Shido from making another one in the beginning was pretty nice though.

The final dungeon managed to be somewhat creepy though with the design and ost and veins running through it.
Yaldabaoth was a shit-tier final boss though, him interfering with the game he set up when it looked like he was going to lose and then even moving the goalposts made him look pathethic though I guess it makes sense since Demiurge is an imperfect god. Also Im not sure how I feel about the final standoff you have with him.

Shadow Ops not making a single appearance even when Yaldy makes his big play and fuses reality with Mementos was severely disappointing, but they probably didn't want to introduce new characters this late in the game, but I find it hard to believe that Mitsuru wouldn't have looked into the mental shutdown cases.
Persona isn't a series that requires you to play the previous games to understand whats going on (atleast from 3 onwards) though, so I shouldn't have expected them to make an appearance.

And while the ost was somewhat lackluster after Persona Q, DAN and the Arenas it was still pretty good. There's more stuff to complain about like the group dynamics and the game having too much pointless filler it was a good game and I don't regret buying it.
