Season 1-2 is super rough, but to 4+ the series definitely found its style. It's just that brain base has no budget or animators, episode 2-3 looked like a early 2000 DEEN Anime. These two episode looked very good, though.

Is it just me, or is people deciding what's best for others easily the most frustrating aspect of the show? With Natsume especially, we're being teased for him to reach a conclusion since pretty much the start, but it refuses to go somewhere more than two steps away from where he started.

It's fine if he's gonna be flip-flopping the whole show until the end when we all know how he's going to be, but at least have his character develop in some other ways.

I don't mind Natsume himself not being involved in romance. In fact, it would feel OOC for him to actually get close enough to any of his current female acquaintances to start a healthy relationship. And he knows the folly of human-yokai relationships all too well by now.

However, the fact that none of his friends are in a relationship does bother me. All we've seen so far are these doomed, episodic trysts, whereas romance is such a huge aspect of that time of their lives. I really want one of these people to have a partner for a longer amount of time so it can ve explored over the course of several episodes.

Well, it isn't for everybody. Natsume has that one friend who tries to get a girlfriend and fails so I guess that's something. I'm not sure how they'd do a romantic subplot anyway without getting in the way of what the story is actually about.

Taki a cute though. I originally don't pair Natsume with anyone else and the series is fine as it is. And honestly, the fact that it has no romance and focuses only on the yokai relationships makes it even special. It's just that if I had to choose, then I think she'd suit him.

Speaking of Taki, I do think she deserves more screentime. I've always loved her funny scenes with sensei.
