Literally every character in symphogear is abnormally attractive, even by anime standards.
It's like, their designs are good, very good, and that makes them attractive just at a glance, but then their actual personalities and the things they do skyrockets that attractiveness to astronomical levels.

Hibiki being the strong-armed softie that would princess carry you to bed through a hurricane and then cry on your shoulder

Chris being that soft lump of angst and anger and a burning desire to be loved that creeps through to the surface until she blooms like a sunflower but about twice as happy to be alive

Kawamori knows how to land the music. Satelite's shows might have the budget of a used car and insane plots, but the music is always a showstopper.

Even Delta, whose plot turned to dogshit in the second half, had an amazing OST that almost saves it. But only almost.

I really like the Tsubasa-Maria dynamic though. Tsubasa toughened up after losing Kanade, but part of her still wants someone to rely on. Meanwhile Maria is a complete loser who tries her best to live up to that, but only succeeds when she isn't being a tryhard. Who's "the cute one" and who's "the cool one" between them keeps changing depending on the situation. It's endearing.

Also Maria being a bit of a team mom while Tsubasa is more of a lone wolf type makes for an interesting dynamic. They're both a little independent in different ways, and both a little weak to the other's strengths.

I generally don't like Maria much as a character and I think her arc was the worst part of G, but I agree that she's at her best when she's playing off of Tsubasa

1,4 and 6 were top 5 of all the franchise easily and then it went to shit.

The most common rumour is that there was executive meddling and the script/scenario for the final episodes was rejected, forcing them to change things significantly and rush the second half of the cours in order to lead into the new ending direction. The bigger the rush, the more formulaic and template-style a planning approach has to be, so we got episodic "angst of the week" as a stopgap. I think the generally accepted conclusion is that topdad was included entirely to be a 'fuck you' to whatever execs the studio answers to.

I don't think there's any hard evidence to say one way or another, though. At this point we can all just hope AXS won't be more of that.
