I like the blend of comfy SoL with battles & suffering. It kind of hearkens back to shows like R.O.D.

Even if it was planned, a one-cours show shouldn't need a recap episode. The production schedule is definitely tight seeing that the first episode alone had way too many animation supervisors even for a double-length feature.
