Gochiusa isn't bad, but I don't know why it got so popular. Chino does her best to be a cunt, Syaro's love obsession and blushing/confused gimmick gets old fast, and Rize's gun autism gets tiring after hearing about it for the 10th time too. I feel sorry for saying that this show is shit. I'm thinking about the author and how he must have love and affection for the character, and tries to share it with others. He'll work hard for that, trying to make others happy. But then there are these cold people on the internet who reject all this and the author will fall into a bottomless hole of crippling depression, all while his characters pretend to be happy. This is like a nightmare, and if it happens it will be my fault too. I don't want to shit on the author's feeling of love and affection, so I will watch this show and make the best out of it. Bootleg Konata isn't so bad. The oppai loli is a crime against moe, but at least I get to hear Mashiro's VA again.

Actually, the gimmicks of the characters are pretty rarely reused. Or rather, the characters have enough gimmicks that each of them is used sparingly. There's a lot of things Rize or Sharo can do in each specific situation while still staying in character, and not necessarily the most obvious thing. Also I've been rewatching episode 10 of season 1 recently (since it's been one of 3 selected to be aired on NHK) and wow, the comedic timing is just way ahead of seasonal cgdct's I've been watching recently. It's nothing mindblowing on its own, but compared to the garbage Japan has been shitting out it's like a breath of fresh air.

Like, for example, Cocoa starting counting prime numbers and then after a long scene that focuses on other characters we go back to Cocoa and she still counts prime numbers, except she's already in the thousands. You just know Hinako Note would never do something like that, because it knows all you have to do is add a bunch of fanservice shots and the fans will eat it up anyway. There's just no creativity there.
