Because it was boring. The protagonists were too underpowered and there wasn't a proper villain. Nothing was moving the plot forward. The setting, art, and music was top tier but they did literally nothing with it.

The protags being underpowered is what made it interesting and scary, they could die at any time if they made a mistake. Later on you can see they kill low level gobs very easily as they gain experience and learn to work together.

I really miss this show for it's healing feelings.
