While it does rely on some bad timing, after all these years I still can't believe how widespread the "LMAO THAT WAS SOOOO MUCH AN ASSPULL!" attitude is, even though the scene is preceded by an entire arc whose entire point was "One day you'll be a pawn of your own geass and you can't do anything about it"
Not to mention the constant feeling of being on edge and that something would be going wrong that they mantained from the very beginning.

Yet the "lmao, such an entertaining trainwreck, am I right /b/roskis? xD" crowd comes off as if they hadn't even watched the damn thing, like the Euphemia scene is a vaccuum with no relation to anything happening before it.

While I agree that the timing could have been handled better, I'd still like to stress how that scene comes right after a long part of the anime that was entirely about the evolution of the geass, and how after it has matured you won't be able to keep it in check anymore.
It's one thing to say "That might've been done a bit better, but it makes sense in context", it's another thing to go "LOOOOOOL TRAINWRECK ASSPULL CAME OUT OF NOWHERE" like the majority of "fans" have done for the past 10 years.

A agree that the trainwreck anons are obnoxious, because there is legitimately good drama and clever use of the Geass or in general plans in this series. Though in this scene it is evident that the narrative is forced to lead to a climax and it makes Lelouch almost act out of character for it to happen. Not so much that the Geass malfunctions, but that Lelouch, the mastermind, forgets about it AND utters these exact words that lead to Ephiminator. If he accidentally said "I could make you shoot me", it would have made more sense, because you can imagine that he had these things still in mind. Something silly and harmless like "I coud make you act like a duck" would have been better.

Am I the only one who thinks that his geass going out of control at this moment was actually a great idea.
Lelouch's geass is tied to his personality and it's the "power of the king".

Yet, in this episode, he admit defeat to Euphie: "You won, Euphie, I give up, I'll follow you plan" is basically what he says.
At this point, Lelouch is weak and he is not "the king" anymore..
And so the geass takes over.

I think it's fitting.

Literally two fucking episodes thats spaced five episodes apart from when the incident starts and its not even about the evolution of geass rather the repercussions that come from extensive use of it and it doesn't have anything to do with geass itself but what came about between the relationship between CCs prior contract Mao and all you get from it is a sibgle explanation of "he can't turn off" and from the explanation itself its stated that Mao didn't lose control of his geass until years later yet Lelouch lost control of it in less than 6 months. Its contrivance for contrivance sake to add more drama with the only explanation being that Lelouch has a dark sense of humor and people hate it largely for its sloppy execution and how everyone involved tirns out being a complete idiot from the guards who let the Imperial Princess go in an isolated area with a wanted terrorist to how everyone was so willing to go along with an order of genocide not seeing something is wrong with the Princess that was preaching for peace earlier. Its the worst fucking moment of series next to all of Turn 21 and I'm not so why people are still so quick to defend it when its just cheap shock value.

Code Geass was the worst, stupidest and most unnecessarily contrived anime of its time.
