The CG model doesn't really capture the subtleties of the expression that the manga did, which makes her reaction read better in the source material.
As for the spinoff novel, that's not by the director of this series, it's from the script-writer. Who is basically just transcribing from the manga for this series anyway, so there's no telling how the book will turn out. Hopefully she knows the characters pretty well by the end of this show.

This anime and its preceding season has been SO terrible that it made me evaluate the actual merit of the source material again - and a despair washed over me, I found everything after the golden age to be rather dull. I really don't know why this became a generic fantasy manga, Guts seems so irrelevant and out of place now, like miura desperately wants another MC.

Berserk is still really niche in Nipland. No studio wants to waste time and money on a title that risks in not selling well. Besides they know that animating it would be a pain in the ass (tons of armor details, backgrounds, etc), anyway. Besides the movies didn't do that well in theatres so they don't see the interest in Berserk when there's so many other more popular upcoming franchises. People like super simple shit like Ero-manga sensei and Konosuba with cookie-cutter character designs which are much easier to draw and animate.

If anything, I was still really surprised we got another Berserk TV anime since it's destined to not be commercially successful anyway. Still sucks that the manga will forever be tied to this piece of shit adaptation (seriously, it has to be the ugliest-looking TV anime of the 21st century).

I'm not even a christian but it makes sense to me that a church that wanted to maintain a barrier to entry when it came to reading the bible by keeping it in Latin (noble's language) rather than translating it to the local languages so the common person could read it (like Martin Luther did) might not have the purest spiritual interests in mind.

Catholic Church is about a centralized institution for social and political control. Obviously this influence has been greatly reduced in the last 200 years, 100 years especially. But doesn't change the fact that for at least over 1500 years of it's existence it was a political and social control mechanism rather than any kind of genuine institution of religious devotion.

Protestant Reformation is at least about saying "fuck all that shit. Have your own personal relationship with the divine. Knock out the middle man who insists upon their importance as being a gate between you and the Lord."

And the obvious subversion that Catholic Church has been under since the council of Vatican II that makes it a puppet for the globalists. You'll notice that the Pope really has fuck all to say about the Muslim invasion of Europe. You'd think the largest institution of Christendom would be a little more concerned about thousands of churches being demolished a year to make room for Mosques.

i can't believe people still argue that the new anime is not shit. it's the worst crap i've ever seen. If it wasn't berserk, i probably wouldn't even watch a minute of it.
I don't have a problem with CG itself, as the OVAs were pretty watchable, and enjoyable, but the new animu is just plain crap, and gives my eyes cancer.
The trolls vs guts fight was just plain horrible, misses all the atmosphere of the hundred man slaying for example, because the animation and the rendering is awful
