They translated the "Di molto" used in the original Japanese script to English despite it being in Italian for example, yet allowed the part itself to continually be called "Vento Aureo" despite this term never once being used in original Japanese publications. One example of many really, even the other Parts have these sort of scanlation problems (part 4 being the worst offender with half of Echoes Act 3's Engrish dialogue being COMPLETELY made up to "spice up" his personality).

JoJo as a whole has got to be the worst victim of fan-influenced translation projects in history, probably due to its early obscurity. Despite there being a new "accurate" Part 5 transaction, they don't have the decency to fix the orginal mistranslation's problems like "Bruno" (fan-name that unfortunately stuck) because they'd rather perpetuate the constant flow of misinformation in the interest of the fanbase's oh so valuable "culture".

While I perhaps agree slightly with the names, I think you have made one major misstep.
The "official" French translations that came out are far more different than the original than the newer ones. Most of the other fan translations I know, like the Russian ones, are built off these "official" translations that were printed. You can tell this as they use many of the censored lines. For example, Cioccolata's "I love you" line.
In the French print and subsequently the Russian version this line is changed with Cioccolata telling Secco to go to Bucciarati. This mistranslation or deliberate changing comes from that the official translation more than the fan translation. The ~Official~ translations seen in the print works and the games have probably done more "damage" than fucking Daxing sit at his computer.

Aceto Doppio never stuck. There was lots more different names that floated that never stuck. Sorry Blono never stuck with but chill the fuck out.

And for how easy it is to change names? Ask the touhou fanbase The touhou wiki has been trying for a good chunk of time getting certain names "correct" like Shikieiki Yamaxanadu to Eiki Shiki, Yamaxanadu for a good couple years later. The entire retranslation project has fallen rather on deaf ears. It's hard to change something that's been so integrated.

A couple of names mean jack shit. Does that mean we should go bother the Nips everytime they fuck up or butcher a English name? You do know Araki himself makes constant transliteration issues with character's names.

If you're cool with spending $60 on a pure fanservice brawler that's basically only SP it's great.

It has some really baffling AI and finding out what some character's moves actually do is trial and error since, at least I, haven't been able to find any documentation of movesets for it. AI will just shit the bed sometimes and stand there ally and enemy AI both. The story mode could become tedious after a bit just from the limited settings. The lack of a local versus is also baffling and this is a game that would've been a 10/10 if it had a versus mode.

It's great for official DIO fan fiction and playing a few arcade fights scattered across the week.

Young Dio was very solitary for his age. He's a kid who had his eyes on the prize (collecting money from bar frequenters, gradually poisoning his father). I don't think he'd have much use for Diavolo unless Diavolo had something to offer him. Maybe Dio would try to use Diavolo for dirty work, like purchasing the poison. If Diavolo lives with the priest, Dio would probably spite him for having a good father. If he lived with his mother instead, maybe they'd relate to each other for having a shitty parent. This is unlikely.

From Diavolo's perspective, I don't think he would be a pushover as much as he'd use Dio as an example. Dio could be the influence needed to silence his mother. Maybe he'd kill his mother instead of keeping her alive.

Let's pretend his story starts here and he isn't Giorno's padre. Dio would still live with his abusive father and his mother would still die. He'd possibly have exposure to the mafia in the Italian slums. Dio could do errands for the mafia for money instead of visiting bars at 12. He'd still poison Dario, and move in somewhere else.

For fun, let's say Kind Priest picks up Dio too, and Diavolo becomes his adopted brother. I don't think they would get along at all. Dio would look down on Diavolo for being having an easy life (for his standards), like he did Jonathan. Diavolo being adopted as a baby, he wouldn't know what it's like to live in the slums.

Unlike Jonathan, who retaliated when Dio crossed a line, Diavolo would be his punching bag. I think Diavolo would develop strong animosity for Dio. He'd loathe the guy, and if Diavolo caught wind of Dio poisoning Kind Priest, I predict Diavolo would expose him out of spite. Dio loses because there's no stone mask to escape from the cops. Rest of Diavolo's life continues as per its regular course. Maybe Dio being a bully would be what causes his personality to split.

I'm pretty sure "Vento Aureo" and "Golden Wind" are just both acceptable romaji renderings of the title in Japan, in the same way that "Diamond is Not Crash" and "Diamond is Unbreakable" are both acceptable romaji renderings of part 4's title. Diamond is Not Crash is definitely not a mistake because it has a long history of being used in official materials, such as the boxes of the super action statues (pic related). I would apply that same line of reasoning to the Vento Aureo / Golden Wind debate. Neither name is improper even if both have been used.

It's basically a linguistic joke: Part 5 takes place in Italy, so its title is rendered into romaji in Italian rather than English like the other parts. All of the Japs call the parts by their respective Japanese names (naturally) anyway, so the romaji names are just there for flavour.

Give part 4 a chance and see what you think. You will probably like it. The stand battles are a lot more interesting, and there's a much more dynamic story going on in the background that actually has twists and character development, unlike Stardust Crusaders which is static all the way through.

The series *does* stay villain of the week, technically speaking, but the story itself gets so much more interesting that you probably won't notice. Also the kind of japery and battles of wits that defined Battle Tendency are a bit more present in Diamond is Unbreakable, albeit with stands rather than hamon

Do you know what a romaji is? Because not once has there been a romaji "rendering" of Vento Aureo in any Japanese promotional material. 黄金の風 and Golden Wind have been the only depictions of the title in the entirety of series history in Japan.
