Why do all my favorite monthly authors want to end their series after 10 years? Kyouka doesn't have near enough development to replace Kiriha, Sunao and the other harem members have been nonexistent for years, and Kazuya is supposed to spend the next 3 years training. The first half was about 13 volumes, then we got Kanaka flashbacks for 3 volumes. If it keeps the same density but moves a little faster and skimps on the relationship building and character development, Tsugumomo should end with 30 volumes.

That said, the first 13 volumes were supposedly less than 1 year in-series. Either we get major time skips, Kanaka breaks out early, or the pacing is super rushed to get through all 3 years of training.

From their perspective I don't think they are completely in the wrong. I don't agree that sentient beings should be kept in bondage but keep in mind how Hierarchical Japanese mythology and society is. Gods stand above humans, Humans stand above animals. While Tsugumogami are definitely above animals, they are also less than humans, even depending on our contracts and existence to maintain their awareness.

I can see why the Enslave faction acts the way they do. In their minds Tsugumomo are just tools and creating relationships with them is just as odd as how people in our world get overly sentimental about their own belongings. True, but I would use antagonist rather than villain because I don't consider the whole of Mayoiga to be "evil". Aside from the Axe guys faction, the rest of Mayoiga were either non-combatants on the run, the few combatants who were willing to defend the territory, and the original offenders who were willing to do what they thought best. The latter group definitely made a morally black decision and I don't think anyone is trying to excuse them for it.

I can see where you are coming from comparing them to terrorists and were this not a work of fiction I wouldn't afford them any leniency on calling them unambiguous bad guys. But part of the story of Mayoiga is the acknowledgement that they were scarred by their ownership from humans, and the promise of later revival from the Gods, so they took their own fate into their hands and created both an intense curse, and a cascading series of events that caused Kazuya to become a Taboo child, Kanaka to become this vessel for the dead God's wrath, and even the destruction of Mayoiga at the hands of Kanaka and by extension the completion of the cycle of vengeance because the God got his revenge in the end.

If I just call them villains I'm missing the point of the narrative. There's a reason why House Tsugumomo appeared like a Monkish figure rather than just a monstrous individual. We're not supposed to take away from their actions that they are pure evil. But at the same time, when I talked about japanese hierarchy, Mayoiga was a group of rebels against the system. Their existence upset the natural order and that's why the system called for their deaths.

Making this situation one of "heroes" and "Villains" ignores the fact that from each camps perspective those labels are swapped. To try and dismiss that because people in real life do the same to terrible effect would be missing the point.
