It's really, really not a Usagi Drop. Latina never once, and this is really obviously the case too, thought of Dale as her parent or family. She was always looking at him as her love interest.

I never really saw Dale acting like her parent either. I always felt he was acting more like an overprotective brother at best.

I remember reading a post where one of them explains that they use their subscriber numbers as a bargaining chip when negotiating with publishers in order to convince them to allow them the license for whatever series they're trying to get. The cost per month of a premium sub (which also gives you one "free" credit a month) is equivalent to buying one book a month on any of the ebook stores. Since they run on a roughly 8 week schedule per volume, that means you would have to be following at least two of their series for it to be worth it.
Mostly you are giving up the convenience of read syncing across platforms which are offered by ebook stores like Kindle and Kobo. In exchange, you get the so-called "premium content", which varies from series to series, some are author interviews, some are bonus chapters from magazines or store exclusives that weren't part of the original book. And also the book you get is DRM free so you can use any reader you want, and has full resolution images (unlike Kindle which has some retarded size limits).

Actually the author probably has complete rights to control translations of the web novel.
So if web novel translators actually got permission directly from the author then I wouldn't fight it. That would seriously damage the author's ability to get their stuff published in Japan though... Any published author would be really foolish to just give away the rights to republish translations of their stuff for free.
Or, it might be the case that once the author agrees to have their book published as an LN they give up the rights to the WN and the fact they are able to post them to syosetsu is a specific carve out in the contract.

In cases like uchi no musume where the WN and LN are really 90% the same (maybe more) it's really hard to legally justify the rights are completely separate.
