This show is so great.
The characters are so charming and always feel real despite all the crazy youkai shit constantly happening. Most anime struggle to present decent romance, and here it takes only one episode to make you care for Yaichiro and Gyokuran.
I guess that's what happen when there is a great writer your story.

The question that underlies their tension is basically, "Can his fool's blood satisfy her wild heart?" Part of Yasaburo's portrayal is that he has a really high potential that he barely uses just to fool around, implying that if he gets serious he would be capable of matching the achievements of their father (or possibly make it work with Benten). It seems to be implied that tanuki lifespans are longer than humans', though apparently not as long as tengu since Akadama already looked middle-aged a century ago. Even though it's been several years since Souichiro was eaten Yashiro's human form doesn't seem to have changed much. Though, interestingly he was a much smaller tanuki at the time. It might be that their lifespans aren't much different from humans' but at a certain age they just decide to start using an older-looking human transformation. It's also possible that their life stages just have different relative lengths than those of humans. I know female wolves for example don't ever actually reach menopause, though coyotes do. Not sure about tanuki.

That said, Frogbro himself was old enough to be a drunken layabout while Yashiro was still a very small child, Kaisei, presumably near Yasaburo in age, is young enough that he was troubled by how much older he was, and the age difference between Yasaburo and Gyokuran is large enough that she calls him -chan rather than -kun. Considering Yasaburo himself is obviously an adult or near adulthood and has been of marriageable age for a while, and that Gyokuran and Yaichiro were peers growing up, it seems likely that they're both well into adulthood. Mid-to-late twenties seems likely but I wouldn't be surprised if they were both well over thirty, or whatever the tanuki equivalent is of those human ages if it's not the same.

She's almost certainly a Christmas cake, and it's entirely plausible that it's past New Year's for her.
