Not really. UBW 2014 made it pretty clear how much Saber's presence triggered her. Maybe even moreso than the source.

As to her lack of popularity: Her indecisive behavior and tendency to roleplay as the victim are her real pitfalls. She denigrates herself every time the word "senpai" slips out of her mouth when they aren't in a school setting. The fact that she never confides in Shirou about anything. She's literally treated as a consolation prize. The hero gives up his precious dream for a literal cum dumpster who probably can't even bear children after all the sexual torture she endured since she was 6 or 7 years old. Meanwhile the pure Rin is giving her first time away to an old man for some money and gems.

Sakura ever winning the Shiroub Owl only really works if you don't think about it too much.

She does actually. It's why Shirou actually has her on the same tier as Taiga in the family department. There are a good number of scenes where she speaks candidly to Shirou. She just doesn't drop snark all the time, which is refreshing. Her not revealing all her problems is not a negative facet, but a smart one, because she is literally hosed in the situation she is in and reckless involvement will hurt her and the one helping her, which Shirou is prone to do.

As for other things, they even go over how close she and Shirou are in Hollow with one of his internal monologues that after Kerry died, she was one of the people that made his house feel less empty and like a home. And in HF he says quite clearly that he feels he can't ever repay what she has done for him

In the Fate route, after Rin tries to chase her out, if you go and apologize, he says to her that his house belongs to her and Taiga, so she has the right to an opinion on who stays or not.

Even Nasu, who had a tendency a long time ago, to spout memes like he did with Kohaku (who sadly after MB, became nothing but memes), starting changing his viewpoint as he saw people cheered for her each All TM character poll, and she kept rising in popularity, to the point she consistently makes top 10 of ALL TM's characters, male and female.

At this point, the real meme is saying that she is unpopular. She is just made to be a more down to earth character despite her background. Though Nasu could have served her better in showing us her interactions with Dilo and all her training in Hollow to showcase she has great will, instead of just passing it over with Dilo never getting a character design.

I mean, even the people that make Alter-ego and BB fanart tend to be people who already like Sakura. Embrace this truth and you'll feel better.

Why do you think Koyama made such a nice BB/Blossom pic? He fucking loves Sakura (and BB/Blossom too of course), and that was double pleasure for him.

Saying that if you like BB or the Alter Egos means you like Sakura is as stupid as saying that if you like Artoria you must like Nero and Mordred too.

It is, I fully agree that other characters should be judged on their own merits seperately, but it's equally stupid that people so fervently try to deny that BB, Blossom-sensei, and the Alter Egos don't exhibit a lot of Sakura's charms and flaws, and unlike the Saber clones, don't have differentiating characteristics, but are variations of the same design.

And that those charms and flaws somehow are cute for them and not for her. That's hypocrisy right there, from an objective standpoint. Even moreso because Nasu himself flagrantly admits that BB is a kouhai type heroine, with many of the qualities he had with Sakura, the same measurements, the same demure way of behaving, with the "devilish twist" of being mischevious, something we see from Sakura too, just not as much, and the very polite way of speaking. Sakura was hugely integral to BB and Blossom's creation in things other than design, unlike Nero and Mordred.

The main difference being their background and role, though even that is mired in Nasu's concept of Sakura and his inward desire to have her be a "boss" character he mentions nearly every time he talks about her.

But what I am getting at here is the hypocrisy that is prevalent. It's like saying that Saber being a glutton is not cute for you, but a similiar character type with the same gluttony is super cute for you. Anyone would say you were being too hard on one character over another, which people tend to be with Sakura.

Now you can say that one character's presentation is more palatable, but even then, I still find that ultimately, the judgement is unfair. It's like someone saying they "wanted to like a character", which is BS, you either like them or you don't.
