I intentionally am trying to max the length of my hair for the same sort of experiment, and I have found that at a certain point the health of your hair starts playing a major part in how long it gets.

Once my hair got mid back length it really slowed the fuck down and started being more likely to split at the ends or look thinner than the hair closer to the scalp.

I've always had really shitty nail genetics so I started taking vitamins for hair and nails and switching to a less aggressive shampoo and only washing it twice a week and now its doing a lot better and the length is starting to pick back up.

Of course I keep the ends trimmed, too so that slows it down a bit.
