I'm getting close.
I'm only watching one thing this season and only because I watched it's OVA. I'm only vaguely aware of what else is airing and I haven't the slightest idea what's going to be airing next season.
I used to watch multiple shows every season what the fuck happened?
Giving up? I am having a hard time watching everything I want every season. I love how easy it is to just get some torrents and enjoy over 20 different shows every 3 months. And then it is easy to find discussion here or read the manga/LN if needed.
Compared to the 90s, where we had to trade VHS tapes and VCDs with friends to get bad rip of some mistranlated series every months, I'd say we are living in a glorious era.
It's one of the cheapest hobbies and requires little effort.
I recently realised that I don't like anime at all anymore and only read a very small amount of manga regulary, like 12 or something? Which means I gave up before knowing it... Wish I could give up on /a/ too
I actually gave up on it because of the rise ironic weebs and normalfags weebs.
Anime is literally too mainstream for me to enjoy anymore.
The resilient hope that there will be something great among the next few shows I watch. Watching anime is essentially like gem mining. You work your way through an endless stream of dirt and (fossilized) shit, but every now and then you hit a diamond that sparkles like nothing you've ever seen before. And everytime that happens, it is the best motivator you can think of. Because had I stopped a year ago, I woul've missed this? No way I'm gonna let something like that happen.
>tfw so busy with university, can't even watch one episode a day
>If I stop watching anime, I won't have anything to talk about
>If I don't have anything to talk about, I can't make friends
>If I don't make friends, i'll be alone
>If i'm alone, i'll go crazy
>If I go crazy, i'll kill myself
Kind of works like that.
Id run low on video games to play in my space time. The plus side is I would probably work on my movie backlog.
it's the only thing I care about I don't do anything else
last anime I finished completely broke me and i haven't got the chance to watch something moe or fun because of university.
Even if I had the opportunity to turn into a complete normalfag, I wouldn't drop it as a hobby, though I would stop watching seasonal trash and limit myself to some anime movies.
I find myself watching more and more obscure retro series than I am trying to find something to watch weekly, I mean I usually wait until the BD is out anyway but I find this is a good method to keep me busy until the BD rip is out.
>and /a/ seems to be unaware they even exist
I don't communicate with anyone about anime or manga outside of 4chan and most /a/nons probably act the same
Fate/Stay Night's anime, because NASU's insanity is literally my headspace. I've rarely if ever had such a powerful feeling that I was watching the work of someone who I understood. Someone who treasured his childhood chuuni bullshit, and realized that if there was anything legit about HEROES OF JUSTICE at all, the only way to prove it would be to make the poor bastards toboggan down a mountain of shit, broken glass and AIDS, on their face, while the author was using them as a snowboard. And if you reach the bottom and that motherfucker stands up, then shit is well and truly real. andthecrowdgoeswild.png
So maybe anime's not going to be miserable 13 (then 12, then 11, then 10) episode adaptations of unfinished mango, or even worse, one-season adaptations of *finished* mango looking to cash in on the fanbase, then never call back after the pump-and-dump. Maybe anime will still find stories worth telling, and actually tell them.
I go between getting really into animu and vidya. Whenever I get bored of one I just switch. Right now I can't give a shit about anime because the last few seasons have been trash and a lot of good games have come our lately.
What am I supposed to masturbate to if I stop now? It's way too late to stop being a virgin at this stage, I'm in it for the long haul now.
I already have. Now aside from a couple airing shows I just watch toku.
Japan is never (ever) going to stop making cute stuff so I will keep enjoying this hobby until I die (next decade I guess).
Old enough to post here.
My alcoholism, I always need something to watch while drunk and I drink a lot.
Also, drunken anime is super fun.
This, except my backlog keeps growing.
I'm ocd about anime and need to finish watching all things in this picture
Kinda depressed in the morning.
Watch one episode of current healing show (Flying Witch).
The warm simple pleasantness of it all engulfs me.
Go to work and make it through most of the day with a bit of joy in my heart.
Rinse and repeat.
>only one good /co/ show airing now
>I can usually find a few shows I like out of any anime season.
Not that guy, but Texhnolyze was one of the first shows I've ever watched. I don't think it's normalfag tier, but it's definitely not a tier 5 show.
I'm pretty sure that was just put in there as a subtle troll anyway. There are other objectionable placings in that list too like Jojo being at tier 3 instead of tier 2.
I'm a wageslave, and it's the only thing i can do at night that doesn't requires too much effort.
I read manga at work though
I'm a mechanical engineer. I can generally do whatever I want as long as I get done what I'm supposed to. I do hide my power level. Which is why I can't read manga with my current desk setup
Not so much, I read one chapter every 15 minutes in a 720p phone, but that's enough to make me imagine stupid things and make the work more easy since i haven't mates to chat with.
I'm a clinical biochemistry, if it's that the right name
You're too lewd we can not be friends
The prospect of maybe someday seeing a really good and engaging anime come out that also has the female characters regularly peeing as just like, a recurring thing, whether plot-related or pure obvious fetish fanservice (as long as they don't spend more time making a big deal out of it with every character remarking on it than they do just showing it).
I'm willing to suffer through stuff like Prison School just for that and the occasionally decent humor, but I long for anime or manga that will have it reliably every few episodes or every several chapters, and not like Queen's Blade where it's just there badly shoehorned in as "character development" to get more people to watch the anime, and then NEVER AGAIN and the anime isn't even good on top of that after you've been rused into watching a bunch of episodes hoping for more.
The worst thing is it's not even truly h-worthy in and of itself so hentai/doujins you can expect to only include it as some "final humiliation", barely depicted, in the middle of some repulsive scene you don't want to watch full of gaping prolapses and massive pimply dicks.
First I just wanted fight scenes, then I got addicted to CGDCT, and now I'm completely fucked
Because American TV, and western TV in general, is:
A) Literally the same melodrama or sitcom crap every season, with very, very few exceptions (at least anime has many varieties of genres, even if most of it is still garbage).
B) Almost no imagination for things, requires everything to be "realistic" or "historical" as possible.
C) Always, ALWAYS some massive focus on some relationship garbage just to shoehorn in drama, even in comedy shows.
D) Infested with race mixing, degeneracy, nigger culture and shaming past traditions (>inb4 HURDUR go back 2 /pol/, nazifag). I guess I'm a nazi if I don't want to watch hollywood propaganda.
>neo-weeb (aka /pol/fag)
>is literally too stupid to see that this shit applies to anime as well
I'm sure no one else is surprised.
No it isn't. I don't know how you could possibly come to that conclusion. It's not even comparable. Most of hollywood and big western TV shows have a very obvious ideological lean. Anime does not; it's more often apolitcal than not.
Some of it is in the sense of sexual fanservice and the like. But it's still pretty rare for characters to get laid outside of a proper relationship. Let alone promiscuous behavior.
Not really. Most of it enforces decades old cliches.
And yet anime is often just as ideological; you're just biased and cannot see that.
There's also a shit load of good stuff that is apolitical in non-anime, but you just have a stick up your ass about politics.
I don't think you're native to /a/, and I don't think you're native to /pol/ either. I think you're either a genuine retarded newfag or an unsubtle faggot thinking he's le master trole trying to stir up shit between boards, or specifically between /pol/ and other boards.
>And yet anime is often just as ideological
No it isn't. Explain how anime is even remotely as ideological as something like "Hidden Figures."
>There's also a shit load of good stuff that is apolitical in non-anime
Well sure. I'm talking about today's hollywood and some of the big budget tv shows.
Are you going to give an argument or just keep making cryptic statements?
>ecchi is now all anime
Its fun to be following shows as they are airing again. There's just something about the week-to-week watching, its a great way to watch TV. But I do love watching shows at my own pace too.
>implying characters get laid in ecchi and not just constant cock tease to bait retarded otaku for more money
Also, what >>156351161 said.
Rightfully a trash show, in the garbage where it belongs.
Also, you should realize that ideology has a definition outside of 'political' ideology. This is more of you complaining about politics in anime, not about ideology.
I'm not sure I feel comfortable with someone else making exactly the sort of post I would have made in this thread.
How exactly is this representative of all anime? I'll admit I haven't watched every Ghibli film, but I mostly just recall harmless kid romance and some ecology/environmental messages. Not very ideological and certainly not nearly to the extent of Hidden Figures.
>life can be fucking shitty at times and anime makes those periods bearable
I manage to lurk on /a/ for years without being spoiled on Evangelion. Going in expecting good'ol Gainax super robot anime like TTGL while being a hikki during that time, EoE was a slap to the face.
Didn't get me out of the hikki phase apparently
>pedoshit with western animation style and literally nothing happens
>everything is western-style ideas of mysticism with samurais n shit thrown in haphazardly and occasionally and occasionally an eastern sort of demon or spirit
>woah no one ever talks so it must be deep and symbolic, like muh arthouse
Why would Eva ever ever get somebody out of depression or Hikki-isum if anything Its more likely to put them there.
I don't know, realizing anyone at all recommended that piece of shit or thought it was in any way good or that the symbolism was anything but overly obvious shoving itself in your face - that might make you think twice about anime or at least its fans. The fact that EVERYONE still dick-rides this piece of shit to the point it's just that thing you pretend to like even if you haven't seen it, and people who never even saw the first episode are STILL talking about how Asuka is SO GREAT BEST GIRL OMG...is almost enough to make you want to watch shitty sitcoms instead.
Well Eva basically is a reflection of the pathetic hikki/otaku lifestyle which encompasses mass consumption of media to escape personal problems. If anything else, it is a reminder that life will be shit but the pain will be worth if you put yourself in society and find your place.
I'm pretty sure it's actually a shitty attempt at injecting gritty realism into a subpar mech anime while choking on the dick of mystic mythos they previously injected into the setting without understanding in any way or doing their homework, plus, like, BLOBS OF FLESH MAN WOAH.
A lot of anime doesn't get talked about and dicksucked over and over and over despite being guilty of this. A lot of anime that DOES has actually interesting characters and something worth seeing. A mech anime that has a hamfisted them and lots of dumb shit and even sad moments and retarded waifus, and even kills off the best character before the halfway point, is Gurren Lagann. Then it spends the entire rest of the series shark-jumping over and over and over as every character devolves further into a stereotype or clone wrapping up with multiple "true endings", all of them shit. Yet it still winds up providing some actual entertainment value along the way, unlike NGE.
>If you want subtlety go read a book.
>he thinks books are subtle
Your post make you sound mad over the eva fanbase rather than the actual show. Stop visiting eva threads on /a/, it's all waifu shit-flinging with little discussions. Filter what you don't like, nobody is forcing you to enjoy eva.
>4chan always had tripfags
Are you this stupid? 100% of the people shitting up on /a/, which's 87% of the current userbase right now, are very aware of it- themselves.
Can't get into video games anymore these days
Anime, cartoons and movies are all I have, it's just easier to invest time into if I don't like a show I can drop it and start something else without feeling like my money is wasted.
Pic related is pretty much all that.
I'll admit that I'm cooling off a bit, partially due to less free time, but also partially because good shows I haven't seen are getting a bit harder to find, and the newer stuff is catching my interest less.
This year though there's been a bit of a resurgence, with two very strong titles: Scum's Wish and Re:Creators.
I actually don't watch a lot of anime anymore, I might start a new series here and there but for the most part I'm really not watching as much as I use to. I think I've lost the patience to try and watch so many of them, like I tried making a list of all the shows I want to watch but there was way too many and I was too lazy to try and watch them all. For instance all the new shows that /a/ watches, I'd try watching them but there are so many that I don't want to bother watching them all.
Nowadays I only watch anime series that become really hyped up and turn into memes, stuff like OPM, and AoT. You know? Just stuff like that, sometimes I'll watch a series if a lot of people recommend it or it interests me. Sadly all I care to watch nowadays is like shounen edgy crap, I don't really care to watch ecchi/moe/slice of life garbage and it seems like that's what is most popular on /a/.
Why would I want to give up something I like?
This was very informative. Thank you anon.
>Anime attracts people on the autism spectrum
>there's no subtlety in manga
>therefore autists love it
I never thought of it this way.
Stop watching seasonally. Just watch good shows.
