I actually read the novel this manga is adapted from, it's very tame in comparison. It was a quick read. No school shooting, no anti-gun shit, there is rape but it's told, and it doesn't go on forever. It's also set in the seventies, and truth be told Akira sort of started the whole thing by sitting in Haguro's chair. Yet he goes on about humans being pricks. Aren't Wolves territorial?

Yeah, an ova.I don't know if the novel had a sequel, but the ova acts as one. At the end of the novel, Akira "dies," during his confrontation with Haguro. His teacher goes to America, because the Yakuza is after her. The ova shows Akira was kidnapped, and an evil organization wants his genes. The live action movie follows the adventures of the Journalist, and as far as I know has almost Nothing to do with the novel.

In the novel, the school assembly "shooting, " was just rabbit boy (no twin or phimosis, but he's impotent, and can only cum at the thought of stabbing ) his crew with bokkens just beating everyone up. He tries to stab one of the student government girls, and that's when Akira acts. Ultimately Akira makes him trip and fall on his knife like he did to one of the twins in the early parts of the manga. Rabbit succumbed to the wound and dies.
