They're making a round trip and doing what, twelve miles? That's a fair distance but it doesn't seem crazy enough for a gag reaction.

When I was between girlfriends and getting my weight back to normal I was doing eleven miles a day for quite a few months.

Not running the full thing until near the very end, of course. The bike path near my town was already measured out by runners and whatnot, I just did the right amount of loops around it, running until I got tired and then walking until I could run again.

Great way to get in shape, if you can fix your eating habits first. Early on it was rough, it'd take me hours and I'd have to take days off in between to recuperate, but by the end I was running the whole thing, feeling great and it hardly took any time.

That'd depend on what services are in your area, then. My uncle and grandmother live in an area where grocery stores deliver to apartment complexes room to room. (Not on demand, I think it was every other Thursday they'd hit their apartment complex) They said there wasn't a fee or anything like that, but the groceries all cost a bit more than the other grocery place nearby that didn't deliver.

The human body is designed to run like 100km per day at least. As long as you're running correctly, make sure to stretch, ramp up properly, etc, and you make sure never to overexert yourself, there's no reason you couldn't run 20km.

But still obviously be careful. 20km is a lot for somebody who ever got fat in the first place. There are muscles, support systems, entire metabolisms which your body has discarded and you have to build back up.
