Considering that we're getting more and more hints of the Two Ciels specula is most likely true and that Kuroshitsuji finally had a recurring character who is one on the MC's side killed off probably will start the series building towards the end now, especially Kuroshitsuji is 12 years old now. I can see Toboso writing another 3 arcs before the final one though. This arc being the final one who make things feel so rushed but it will probably the arc that might change the series' general tone though.

It's the art that does it for me, mostly. I also like Ciel and Sebastian - they're complicated characters with a relationship that goes beyond merely child master/demon servant.

There are spreads in this series that take my breath away. Regardless of the fujobait, the strange "comedy", or questionable arc directions (Victorian idols? Really?), the principle characters and the art make it worth reading.

No matter what I search this image doesn't come up in color, too bad. Some anon posted the nice version of this to /a/ over 10 years ago and I was hooked on Grell's design, though the Jack the Ripper arc hadn't been translated yet and the only people that were interested in talking about it were on Livejournal. It's weird to see how far it's come and yet remained so stagnant. The artwork has been consistently beautiful, but why is it so hard to care about the characters?

Basically, the "Ciel" we know in the series isn't the real Ciel Phantomhive. Specula is that "Ciel"'s real Ciel Phantomhive's twin sibling and the real Ciel died on that sacrificial table that day. So this "Ciel" decided to take up the real Ciel's persona. Why, we don't know.

Yeah, for a human. Sebastion limits himself to maintain the ruse and to have some fun, but the fact is if given an order Sebastion will increase his strength to whatever level is needed to do the job. Notice how Toboso made sure to have him far away from the mansion during this scenario.

This is why people shouldn't get all caught up with the idolshit in the last arc, Kuroshitsuji never has been true to the late Victorian period. It was pretty much picked mostly for stylish choices. The clothes that the characters wear are often gothloli fare. I mean, did the phone in the car and Ciel watching TV and video games didn't tip you off? Even the mustard gas and tanks that was in the Green Witch Arc wasn't develop until about 20 plus years after.

Is this a new arc now or is the last one still going? The idol arc didn't really get resolved properly.

- Remember when the tailor remarked that she only service girls and shotas, and had remarked that "Ciel" didn't grow one bit despite he is 13 already.
- Would explain why "Ciel" would adopt the real Ciel's persona because women weren't allowed to take over their father's property in Victorian England. It would be hard to exactly revenge when you don't have the power to do so.
- As you say, "Ciel" is usually uncomfortable when it comes to matters about marriage to Lizzy.
- Could explain that why "Ciel" is very adamant to not show Agni and Soma that old family portrait so they won't question why "Ciel" has a sister he never mentioned.
- Plus, we did have that Kuroshit 3DPD movie where the "Ciel" proxy is hinted to be a reincarnation of "Ciel" and that proxy was a girl disguising herself as a guy so she was able to inherit her father's estate.

I may be wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was true though. But the fujos would fucking flip if a series they followed for this long is het all along.

Actually it isn't a load of crock and the series is hinting that it might be true. There would be no need for Ciel to freak out from anyone but Sebastian seeing his old family photo and Agni's death flag pinged when he saw that bit from the photo. But the Two Ciels theory is something people are seeing because Toboso is dropping peculiar hints throughout the series.

Only thing that is pure specula is if the "Ciel" we know is a boy or girl at this point. You can say that "Ciel" is just hiding he is actually his brother because he wanted to carry on his memory of being the sacrifice that brought Sebastian to the human plane, or his sister who wants to do the same plus knows that she has to disguise herself as a boy to carry on the Phantomhive estate.

It never gets good. I hateread it faithfully, but when I say "hatetread", I mean I usually have at least one enraged brain hemorrhage per month. Toboso's writing is so bad it's insulting, and this current arc is the worst arc yet.
Art is great though and I can't get over Bravat's character design.

For the record, 2CT is happening and John Brown isn't human, and is probably that butler star.

I'm not really following the manga zealously, but I think that at least once Elizabeth mentioned that Ciel who came back after the kidnapping was shorter than he was before. The theory is that he was either a twin sibling or maybe a body double who assumed the persona of the real Ciel after the kidnapping. Real Ciel was the one who was sacrificed to summon the demon.
