Is it worth going to the theater to see this?
>>
Seeing an anime on a big screen is definitely something to experience, especially a film that look as nice as Your Name.
>>
>>156190751
>look as nice as Your Name.

Nanoha 2nd was better
>>
>>156190730
Having already done so myself, I can give you a resounding 'yes'.

Well, maybe if you have someone to go with anyways.
>>
>>156190823
I would be going by myself since none of my friends actually care about anime, so I am a bit iffy on seeing it in theaters.
>>
worth every penny.
>>
Yeah, it works really well on the big screen. Dub is fine if that's your only option.
>>
I went with my brother and friend. Brother didn't watch anime, now he's watched every major movie by Shinkai
>>
>>156190730
Yes, any film is worth seeing in the theater.
>>
>>156191069
I went alone. Many other people did as well but I would say still go. How often do you get to see anime on the big screen? Not often.
>>
>>156190730
No, everybody who went to watch this and said they liked it are just posers.
>>
>>156194601
What do you mean by this?
>>
>>156190785
>"Car X is a fast car"
>"Car Y is faster"
That is effectively what you have said. Whether or not something else looks nicer, does not negate the fact that it looks nice.
>>
>>156190730
Yes, absolutely. No doubt about it.
>>
>>156190730
Just went to see it earlier today. Worth every penny.
>>
>>156190730
I really liked it the movie. I won't say that it is highest grossing anime movie ever quality, imho, but the theater definitely made the experience more worth it. I think.
>>
>>156190730
Is going to the theater a big commitment for you?
>>
>>156198629
It's mainly that the only theater showing it is like a 25 minute drive away, so I can't be assed to go and pay to see an anime unless it's really worth it.
>>
Not worth the ticket.

I'm not saying is bad, but do not spend your money in this.
>>
>>156190730
I mean it was pretty fun to watch but all of the people here saying it's the best shit ever are clearly newfags. It's anime for people who don't like anime. There are enjoyable parts but at it's core it's just kind of a dumb chick flick. If anything, see it just for the novelty of seeing anime in theaters since it's kind of rare. I mean it's not actively BAD, it's just kind of dumb, but it has its entertainment value. Yeah I'd say it's worth it if you have someone to go with, but it's not good enough to see alone.
>>
>>156190730

It was overrated Anime Movie, so no.

Just watch the leaked 720p on nyaa
>>
It's good, very good even, but it's not the transcendent masterpiece some reviewers are making it out to be. Aside from one awkward CG segment, it's a visually stunning film and in my opinion entirely worth paying to see on the big screen.
>>
>>156200200
>I mean it was pretty fun to watch but all of the people here saying it's the best shit ever are clearly newfags. It's anime for people who don't like anime. >implying
It brought back ronery threads.

Maybe normalfags like it. But so do hardcore fans. God, I've seen 1200 anime at this point and I fucking loved it. It's going in my top 5 anime movies, alongside Cagliostro and Honey Mayonnaise.

>>156202589
Don't be contrarian. The movie has its flaws but it's paced really damn well. It also has some of the most nuanced characters and most expressive animation I've seen in damn near anything. Bringing on Ando was a smart idea, since that's something Shinkai usually struggles with.

Like, I haven't fanboyed for anything this hard in a long time. I WANT to call myself classy, I want to say I have good taste in rare anime, and I certainly do love shit like Takarajima and Gozensosama and Giant Robo, but I can't stop loving this movie. It strikes so many emotional cords, so aptly, especially if you look a little deeper into it, that it's hard to NOT like it.

Honestly, if you didn't find it that great, watch it again. Or pay attention to the themes. Obviously everyone has different emotions, but even an unfeeling psychopath should be able to appreciate the intricacies behind this movie.
>>
Nah. it has nice shots, pretty good cinematography but not much else.

The story is shit, the directing is bare bones, the voice actors aren't anything outstanding, the characters are incredibly dull both the main lead characters can be described as easily as 'he is a boy' and 'she is a girl' nothing about their desgins are Impressive, the side characters are bland and show no purpose than to have an excuse to throw information and context at the viewer. The ost is complete garbage. There's not a single good track on the list It's the most cookie cutter stock movie music you can find. The ending and pacing is nice, especially if you were able to take the story and chracters seriously.

But really there's nothing good about this movie to justify spending money on it. It's not bad, but nowhere near 'good'
>>

It’s not perfect, but I can’t really see any other way they could have done it.
It seemed a little weird, but that was only because I’ve already seen it subbed.
>>
>>156190730
Not really. It's pretty but the story is meh. Unless you're into melodrama and sappy teen love stories, don't waste your money.

Nigga, did you even watch the movie. It literally sounds like you are basing the movie off the trailers which make it seem that way.

can I make it any more obvious?

You're pretty dense if you took that from that quote.

Point is that you're implying that the characters were nothing more than generic shells which they arnt. Yes, they're not super complex but they're not just empty shells either. You're just trying to be contrarian and nitpicking using over exaggerations as examples.

Rub a dub dub thanks for the grub!
To our dark lord amen!

something like that
>>
>Go to the movies alone
>I'm a couple minutes late
>As I walk into the theater, the whole crowd turns to look at me
>One of them yells "HOLY SHIT, HE'S ALONE!"
>Whole theater laughing hysterically as I take my seat
>Calls of "weirdo," "creeper," etc.
>Want to die
>After the movie, the entire audience mobs me in the hallway
>They start dancing in circles around me, chanting deliriously and laughing
>They start singing a nursery rhyme about how only virgins go to the movies alone and how I should kill myself
>I can't get away because they've joined hands and won't let me escape
>They start throwing their drinks and candy and stuff at me
>"HAHA LOOK AT THE LOSER GETTING STICKY"
>Ushers come by
>They look mad but then they see me in the middle of the crowd
>One of them says "wait, did that fucker come here alone?"
>Ushers join in, start using supersoakers to shoot artificial butter at me
>I'm lying in the fetal position sobbing at this point
>The dancing and chanting continues for over 13 hours
>I'm completely covered in soda, butter, and bits of candy
>Black guy goes NIGGA LOOKS LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE
>Crowd finally disperses
>Cinema manager comes by
>Leans down, whispers in my ear "Never come here again"
>All I can do is whimper yes sir

Don't go alone.

I don't really get how they never once checked the date, or how no one ever mentioned the year.

Also, I wish that they would have wrote down as much freaking contact information as possible instead of appreciating the moment where they finally meet each other for real.

Those gripes aside, it's a pretty good movie. My favorite anime movie is still Disappearance.
>>
Check it out OP. It's a nice movie but falls apart if you think about its plot problems for more than a second. Aside from that and a few questionable music choices it's good to see if only for a Shikai movie on the big screen.
>>
>>156217094

They've made it clear that the events they experience when bodyswapping become fuzzy once they go back to their original bodies, as if it were a dream.

That would make sense if it were a one time thing but they were at it for at least a week. Not to mention Taki somehow remembers the shrine sake along with the little speech granny gave on the way to the mountain but not other things.
>>
>>156190730
Considering that the visuals are the best part about it, seeing it in a theater is eye candy if you can get a good seat. Especially if you can go in the afternoon, I went out and watched it today and there were only two other people there so no obnoxious distractions like you might get if you watch with a crowd.

At the point he retells the grandma's tale, he had already forgotten Mitsuha's name. This may have stayed in his memories because of musubi.
One thing's for certain, their memories are not 100% intact after bodyswapping.

Honestly though, if the endings were reversed then Your Name would have been 10x better and 5cm would have been tolerable.
After all Mitsuha's grandmother did talk about giving up something close to you for another chance, and in this case it would be Taki and Mitsuha giving up their memories of each other and any opportunity to be with each other again, all in order to save Mitsuha and all the residents from the meteorite.

Also... How can you say you love her if you can't even drink her saliva-fermented sake?
>>
>>156217723
No but once he got there he remembered the whole underworld thing and how he dropped off the booze.

Another thing. Even if you ignore the whole problem with no one looking at the dates, how come no one remembers the comet destroying a whole fucking town? The time travel bs was easily the one thing that brings this whole movie down.

With all of Mitsuha's talk of the comet you would think someone would put 2 and 2 together. A lot of things here only work if you willingly ignore things like how a comet can't even crash into Earth considering they're giant balls of ice and would just blow up in the atmosphere. But that's just being pedantic.

Mitsuha only talked/mentioned the comet with Taki (I think, she may have mentioned it to Onadera as well).

There is literally no reason why someone mentioning a comet should make you connect an event that happened three years prior on it's own.
It would be unusual to have another visible comet within that timeframe but there's no fucking reason at all that just because she mentions a comet you would go
>Oh, that must mean she is from that town that got destroyed by a comet three years ago!
That's just fucking retarded Anon. You're fucking retarded.
>>
>>156218834

What's so great about seeing it on a larger screen? It just takes up the same amount of space in you vision. You can just sit closer to your monitor if you need it to encapsulate more of your field of vision.

I don't remember Levy making contact with Jupiter. I didn't say it wouldn't be destructive but something more in line with what happened in Siberia where it blew up before impact.

>>156218886
No but when someone raves on about it like she did then maybe you'd think she's talking about THAT comet. Combine that with everyone in her town gushing too while he was in her body your sense of belief tends to slip.
>>
>>156219095
Except you can do all of that at home. Wear a nice headset with good sound cards, turn off the lights, move closer to your monitor. Same experience and you don't have to deal with misc noises/discomfort in the theater.
>>
>>156218654

>>
>>156219144

>>
>>156219124

Have a (you)
>>
>>156219144
Well it made contact with Jupiter, but Jupiter isn't terrestrial so there wasn't any observable cratering or anything. Granted, if a comet passed as close to Earth as in the movie, NASA, JAXA, the ESA, etc would be flipping out.
>>
>>156219274
I never said anything about video quality. All I said are all the things you pointed out are not reasons for why you should go to the theater just to watch a film. If I have an option between buying a blu-ray and watching it at home vs going to the theater, I would watch it at home.
>>
>>156219144
Shoemaker/Levy was news material. I remember it and I was 9 at the time, I didn't even realize it was that long ago.
I don't know if you are talking about Tunguska by "what happened in Siberia" but the verdict is still out on what exactly happened there.
Airbursts are pretty common but it depends a lot on composition and how it enters the atmosphere. For an airburst you basically need it to heat up enough internally to cause internal pressure to increase until it explodes.
If there is some exterior material acting as an ablative and it enters the atmosphere at a higher angle then it's entirely possible that it wouldn't heat up enough inside to airburst before it hits the ground.

In this case we are basically to just accept that it was in an ideal configuration due to shinto magic.
>>
>>156219323
Yeah, hard to tell with a planet we don't know much about to begin with. Here's hoping that changes when Cassini crashes in September. Anyways, the comet business was me being pedantic.

My chief complaints still are time travel being implemented poorly, a opening that not only spoils the ending but wastes your time that could've been used to help build Taki up as a character or flesh out the story a bit more. Ending jerks you around for a while as well but that's a personal preference thing.
>>
>>156219538
I would have liked to have seen more development between Taki and Mitsuha as well.
>spoils the ending
I didn't find this to be an issue at all. I didn't catch the significance of the opening until my second watch through, though I suppose others might have remembered the whole way through the first time.
>>
>>156219144
Oh and with the second part, shinto magic.

Two days before the comet hit, when he took the spit sake up the mountain, he must have seen the comet because sleeping was the time they switched bodies yet it cuts immediately after granny says "Are you seeing a dream?" to him waking up.
Even in the LN it says that he suddenly woke up with heart pounding and tears and didn't know why.

It is probably best to infer that he saw the comet, recognized it and probably realized what was going to happen, but lost that part of his memory in the switch back to his own body (it explains the tears at least).
>>
>>156219538

I took public transport due to the only showing being right smack in the middle of our biggest city.
And if you watched the movie, Taki hiked a mountain and Mitsuha took a densha to Tokyo for each other so a 25 minute drive is nothing.

Garden of Words was better.

Kimi no Na wa wanted to suspend my disbelief so hard, that I just stopped caring. I didn't even cry which is a first for a Shinkai work.

>>they never check Calendars after swapping bodies
Even if they did they never remembered after the swap. Memory loss is pretty obvious if you were paying attention.

>>they switched bodies so MANY TIMES but the guy still didn't bother finding out which school she went?
He knew what school she went to, or at least where it was, but he didn't remember the name of the town when he returned to his body/timeline. Another obvious case of memory loss.

I would have liked if the movie ended with Taki on the mountain, realizing he'll never get to meet this girl, but how lucky he was to know her life in some way.

The cheesy time travel town saving a hit kinda killed it. The cheesy lovers uniting moment at the end buried it further. Fuck sappy happy endings.

True, they could have.
Could have also written the town name, etc

Question is would they have written the year difference if they had discovered it while swapped? They were already doing something completely unbelievable so perhaps if they did discover the year difference they wouldn't have thought it so unusual next to the body swap itself.

From the scientific data I have on hand (1 movie in 1 year = 1hand job per movie) I can conclude that you should ALWAYS go to see every movie that girls may like, just shower 1st and try to be cool not creepy.

Even if you think this is a joke consider that girls like movies and like going to them, at the least you can hang around them awarkwardly before and after the movie.

Japan should make more movie Animes.
It's just gotten ridiculous how series are dropped without a proper ending.

If this thing was a series, it just wouldn't be this good, because they would either rush end it, or continue it until it dies off sales-wise.

I mean, as much as I like KNNW there are obviously faults. But these dumb plothole arguments are just, well, dumb.

Not remembering the town's name is alright, how often do you really bring it up in conversation anyways, especially if it's a tiny town? Maybe they should've asked a little more, but neither of them were really terribly concerned about the specifics. As far as Mitsuha knew Taki was in Tokyo. As far as Taki knew Mitsuha was in the Hida countryside. Their memories are hazy anyways.

As for the time difference, if they noticed they would've definitely noted it. Written it down. But they didn't. Why? Because neither of them thought it was even a remote possibility. Between the days of the week changing, different phone models, different news about the comet and even occasional calendars in the background, they just never notice. If you saw a calendar lying around that said 2014, do you think "Oh, I must've gone back in time" or "Who left this old calendar around?"

Even after the date, Mitsuha EXPLICITLY tells him the comet should be visible. Taki knows about the comet, but even then, as she's literally saying "I'm three years in the past," he doesn't realize it because it never really occurs to him as a possibility. At most he thinks, "what a weird metaphor, what did she mean?"
>>
Yotsuha also mentioned the comet to Taki right before that date, but dream visions.

I figured the crying had more to do with thinking of Mitsuha giving him the ribbon three years ago, which he can't remember well, or just the thought of her. It parallels Mitsuha's crying later, and Taki never cries over the idea of her dying, only of thinking of her.

Just like when Mitsuha mentioned it to Taki in the note, mentioning the meteor doesn't make him realize that there's a time gap, because he never even considers that possible.
>>
>>156253273
That is one way to interpret his tears. Taki doesn't realize it yet, but he had some clues that hint both him and Mitsuha are connected far deeper than just switching bodies with a random teenager, and cries in the same moment as Mitsuha did when she understood why she cried while he didn't.
>>
I would say yes because the bluray probably won't come out until like September or later.
>>
>>156253403
Mitsuha was crying because she realized that she cucked herself. But it's fair to say that at that point both of the were coming to realize their feelings for one another, even if they were both fairly confused.
>>
>>156253273
The other times they wake up with tears it doesn't mention their heart pounding, and they don't wake up as suddenly if I remember correctly.

This time was something special.
>>
>>156245565
Yeah the theater I was in had mostly old people, and some giggly teens.
>>
>>156251303

Yeah, most of the plot hole arguments revolve around almost mindless amounts of autism and pedantry.

Mitsuha and Taki are busy trying to figure out how to live lives that are totally the opposite of their own, while also trying to figure out what's going on. Both are likely so totally swamped by the experience and the learning curve that honestly, looking at the year is probably a bit of an afterthought. Mitsuha is too busy gawking at the Tokyo life to care, and Taki is too busy trying to figure out how to live in the sticks.

On top of this, it is actually extremely easy to miss details you're not looking for, because you have no reason to scrutinize them. It's already September by the time the film starts so it's not like either of them need any reminders of what they think is the current year by then.

And then lastly, layer on the fact that their memories are rather obviously not completely clear and it becomes clear that this is an argument that lacks any attempt at understanding context.

I mean, why criticize the year issue rather than the fact that Taki literally forgets Mitsuha's name *seconds* after he shouted it four times after he was literally talking to her seconds before that? Or how Mitsuha also forgets Taki's name relatively quickly?

It doesn't make much sense to accept "muh Shinto magic" for the latter, but not the former, given that the entire premise is driven by "muh Shinto magic" to begin with.
>>
>>156253526
No other scene do they wake up with tears, aside from after the timeskip. The only comparable one was at the start, when Taki has a flashback before waking up as Mitsuha.

I'd say this was just a general response to the idea of Mitsuha, rather than an omen of whatever.
>>
>>156253571
>rather than the fact that Taki literally forgets Mitsuha's name *seconds* after he shouted it four times after he was literally talking to her seconds before that? Or how Mitsuha also forgets Taki's name relatively quickly?
Oh come on, that was clearly shinto magic in exchange for them meeting. The clearest case of shinto magic beside the bodyswapping mechanic itself.

For the novelty of actually seeing anime on the big screen sure. The movie itself is over rated as hell though, I'm not saying it's bad I definitely enjoyed it, but I don't understand the level of hype it got. Also keep in mind weebs that go out are generally the absolute worst and you'll probably have a couple of people talking throughout it and yelling stock japanese phrases.

feel most of his characterization is more in the background, like being compared against mitsuha!taki in the beginning, and only hints he wants to get into architecture until the ending

Taki gets plenty, it's just somewhat indirect, since the first act is all Mitsuha. But when we see him act as Mitsuha, we get a much better idea of what kind of person he is. Even on the trip to the God, the fact he gives Grandma a ride is pretty indicative.

Also, he gets the middle third of the movie to himself, so that's plenty of characterization for how meticulous and persistent he is.

See, this is what is so good about silence in movies. A lot of the movies made these days are just "american movie with music all the time, high noises and never a moment of silence". When a movie uses complete silence (visual silence, where nothing happens, just a character looking out a window too), it feels so much stronger. I dont even remember the moment you're speaking of that clearly, but even I get shivers.

>$10-14 for a movie ticket
That's expensive it was like 6.50 at my theater not that I even had to pay since I have a stack of free passes someone gave me forever ago
>>
>>156224311
Movie theater setups are expensive because you are projecting something over a much larger screen than say your monitor. Your sound system must also be good enough to cover a room that can fit a good amount of people.

Video quality is determined by resolution and bit-rate. Blu-ray can come in 1080p to 4K. Movie theater also projects from 2K to 4K (or the real IMAX). Bit rate doesn't exactly matter here since it's sufficiently high. You can also argue the color / contrast is better but an average monitor probably has as good of color / contrast as in cinema. Essentially, I don't see a difference here. But if you view it at home, you can choose the distance from the movie screen quite freely. You can make sure that the screen takes up exactly most of your field of vision. Seems like a win for watching it at home to me.

I can't say much about audio quality since I am not an audiophile. Audio quality is often just a subjective matter. But one thing for sure is I can give up some audio quality if I can not hear people laugh when Mitsuha trips or when Mitsuha didn't get to finish writing on Taki's hand. The fact that other people can be disruptive seems like more of a problem than a minor drop in sound quality. If you don't have any kind of home theater setup and you want to use your $5 dollar speakers then I can see where you are coming from.

>>156225937
I saw the movie twice in theater. But that's besides the point. What are you contributing to this discussion by calling me a failure? You guys are getting really defensive about other people not liking what you like.

Just got back from seeing it subbed. Movie was goddamn amazing. 30 mins later and my stomach is still in a knot from the anticipation of the last half of the movie.

Was watching and hoping we'd finally get to "kick the football" and not get the gut-wrench すれ違い bullshit yet again, hence my stomach still being tensed up.

Now I just find it a pity that the movie will never see proper commercial success in the US.

Although it was kinda neat seeing the setting of the movie, as I've been to most of those places on previous trips to Japan. That very same Yotsuya station of the Chuo Line in Tokyo, Takayama, rode the Hida trains through Gifu prefecture, etc. Even have the goofy Hida mascot plushie wrapped around my passenger headrest of my car. Although, since they were really living in separate times, that makes Mitsuha 3-4 years older than Taki, doesn't it? Not that that would be a big difference at that point, because they would be like 22 and 25.
>>

To some degree, I think Shinkai felt it wasn't too necessary because Taki is a more relatable character to most Japanese. He's a city boy trudging his way through the daily grind. He knows what he wants to do (get with Okudera, study architecture) and is on his path to achieving it. He's built a solid but perhaps rather boring life. Go to school, go to work, hang out with friends every now and then. A familiar routine to any other city dweller.

Then Mitsuha comes along and we get more glimpses of his character. Being Mitsuha gives him a chance to be more outspoken, to break out of the comfort zone he's created for himself in Tokyo. It puts him in a position where he can carve a new niche and try new things that he would never do in Tokyo. We see his persistence and determination come out when he goes to find Mitsuha. And for those who haven't read the translated version of those cell phone notes, they're worth a read. Fills in a bit more about Taki's thoughts behind his actions.

And I think at the end of the day, it's just harder to characterize "realistic" male characters in Japan because Japanese culture still expects typical men to be pretty calm and stoic and to keep their heads down and work. Taki's still a teenager so he's still got a bit of a hot streak, but he's a pretty typical, boring kid, and I think that's part of the point.

I love you was literally the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Probably because I don't tend to watch romance but still, it's fucking god tier.

On my fourth viewing though, Mitsuha(Taki)'s journey up the mountain inexplicably hits me really hard. The flashbacks, the Theme of Mitsuha playing in the background, and Mitsuha's VA did an extremely wonderful job with the voice acting, because the sheer desperation can be felt so clearly when she went "back then three years ago, before I met you, you went all the way to Tokyo...to see me!"

And then finally when they finally met. The build up for it made the scene where they're both on screen so cathartic I already started tearing up. Then after the long pause, Kataware-doki started playing, and she calls out his name and just lets out all of her emotions. Crying waterfalls at this point.

I'm just gonna assume since at this point, I've already seen it three times so I guess paying 100% attention to the actual scenes and acting made the impact even greater.

Fuck I haven't fanboyed about anything in so long.

>>
>>156269986

That's not unusual for a full-resolution poster that isn't compressed to high hell. I've worked with smaller resolution poster designs (for artist alley tables etc.) and their PNG forms are generally well over 100 MB each.

For an image sized for a 27x40" poster, 355 MB is not surprising at all, if even a bit small. Keep in mind that standard American poster sizes are substantially smaller than this, usually ~24x36". Japanese sizes are even smaller; a standard B2 is ~20x29".

The other plot holes don't bother me too much, because the human memory is a hazy thing sometimes, and it fits with what they were going for.

But what grinds my gears is when their diaries of each other literally disappeared before their eyes. I would've been fine if Taki just couldn't find those diaries in his phone, making him wonder if they ever existed to begin with, but the diaries' words literally disappeared before his eyes. It was like the whole universe was conspiring against them being together. I can suspend my disbelief for the whole bodyswapping and love across time thing, but when that happened that completely threw me off. Does the bodyswapping affect their electronics?

I know they needed a way to deal with the diaries, but that's the only plothole that bothers me.

>>156270440
I've seen multiple fanarts involving the nutty pocky. Does it play a certain role in the novel or something?
>>
>>156270328

Yeah, to some degree that tripped a few flags in my head. Honestly, the thing that required the most suspension of disbelief for me is that Taki's friends stuck with him after he was clearly acting obsessed and a bit crazy (from their perspective).

But Okudera addressed a bit of that when she talked about how she was sure that Taki had met *someone* who had left an impact on him, which gave a bit of background on why she was willing to cut him some slack. And Tsukasa seems to have been his friend for a long time, so I can give him some credit there. It ultimately didn't faze me much and the plot moved on pretty quickly.

That's exactly when your friends should be sticking with you.
>>
>>156270754

It was implied she was in what appeared to be some major city, since she was wearing a more modern blazer-style uniform. Given the state of the family, I think it's a safe bet that she went with Mitsuha to Tokyo, and probably with their grandmother as well (for however long she was/is alive). And maybe even their father, depending on whether Mitsuha was actually able to make up with him in the long term.

Yeah, neither Okudera nor Taki remember why they went to Itamori, finding out that Mitsuha was from Itamori wouldn't have answered any question there because they don't remember going there to look for someone.
If anything they would think it was a crazy coincidence.
>>
>>156270826

It is. But as something of a tech guy and a natural skeptic (especially of the paranormal), it would be very hard to persuade me that messages just disappeared from a phone.

But I'd like to hope I'm a good enough friend to stand by them anyway in that situation. As William T. Sherman put it, "[Ulysses Grant] stood by me when I was crazy, and I stood by him when he was drunk, and now we stand by each other."

Though, it does make me wonder what Mitsuha's group thinks about things now, along the lines with how Taki's group remembers it. They don't have time fuckery messing with them, but they'll no doubt have forgotten and reinterpreted things in a similar manner. Most important is how they remember why the evacuation happened.

If you can afford it being printed in 27 x 40'' go for it.
>>
>>156271282

Less so, actually.

It's already established that Tessie has a bit of a crush on Mitsuha, is a bit more believing in the supernatural, and is just as dissatisfied as Mitsuha with his predetermined future. He's looking for ways to lash out against the powers that be and to him, this also looks like a great chance to score some points with the girl he loves.

And Sayaka's basically a doormat so her getting coerced into it isn't too surprising.

The part where Mitsuha (Taki) starts acting depressed and a bit incoherent after failing to convince the mayor and takes Tessie's bike trips a few more flags in my head than his initial agreement; it's one thing to agree to a plan after hearing all of the information, but Mitsuha's odd behavior would IMO stand out again. It's one thing for Tessie to agree if he thought Mitsuha was entirely lucid in her reasoning and he was fully looped in on the info as a sign of trust. But when she started acting weird again and took his bike without explanation, that would stick out a little again because now he's sticking with the plan even though it seems Mitsuha isn't telling him everything.

But by then, it can be argued that he's already committed to the plan in his head so it's not a big deal. Not enough to make him give up right there, at least.

>I haven't seen the dub but I imagine that part is the only one where it's superior
There's exactly one other thing, and that's that there are conversations that don't get subbed when there's a voice over. Most don't matter, and there's not too many to begin with, but the sub does miss an interesting exchange during the date. Where Taki spills his spaghetti and emphatically says the place they're eating is way too expensive. It helps round out Taki's character a bit more, lining up with what we've seen during the montag, and helps show how his date with Okudera crashed and burned.
