it wasn't even about dragons though. It was about regular humans with the animation equivalent of "IM A DRAGON" written on their foreheads in marker.

That is to say, their being dragons didn't actually matter in the slightest, so swapping "dragon" for any other fantasy creature would have no effect.

Should have just made a show about their home world would have been a million times better than "Tohru tries to make Kobayashi eat her tail again" repeated again and again.
