As I had hoped, the take-off scene in episode 2 was a great representation for what happened from episode 1-3:

As a newcomer who has always enjoyed the art, I'm quite glad.

This adaptation is annoying. All the added bits are really bogging down the pacing. The village scenes in Ep 1-2 and the nonsensical chase scene in Ep 3; none of it is in the game and it really didn't need to be added to the anime. I like the characters and setting but nothing in the story is compelling by far. And this is coming from someone who is up to date with the game.

The little self-contained story arcs of the plethora of side characters are far more interesting than any of the main cast or core story of the game.

I guess they tried framing the main trio of MC, Lyria and Lizard as more engaging/important in that recent event with Sandalphon, and to some extent, things actually got a bit hype, but it ended with a fizzle rather than a bang.
