The TV series was overrated as a masterpiece in the making while it was still airing and became underrated after it didn't live up to the expectations set by the OVAs. It was still pretty good and unique, despite Toei's best efforts to ruin it.

It's been to long to remember everything but the entire second half could be described with "it's fucking nothing".
None of the conflicts made sense or were handled in a satisfying way. The head priest and the shrine were not existent and pointless. Inari caused every problem by being an angsty fuck for no reason. Miyoue's issues were equally stupid and their resolution was half assed. All the shit about Koto not giving back the body to the Boodhislava etc. were rendered irrelevant by Koto having absolute power to solve everything handed to her. The three animals being the supreme god and Inari being the god of creation instead of just a monk blessed with an unique power were blatantly retcons and stupid decisions that ruined the entire story.
