People think Gohan was born a pacifist yadda yadda, but really it was Chi-Chi grinding it into his head over and over.
We all forget it cause we're older and pretty set in our ways but Gohan was a kid. Kids are impresionable and kids do what they think their parents want out of a natural instinct to have their love and affection.
Chi-Chi was around him more, mostly cause she forbade Gohan from going out to hunt or train with his father, and made it very clear she wanted something out of him.
He was basically trained to be Chichi's bitch.

This. They could have done some bits in episodes about this, with Krillin as a cop, Piccolo around, Jaco and random Yamcha fucking up every once in awhile. But nope, Toei likes to show off Beerus and Whis eating shit every damn episode because "MUH EARTH FOOD IS SO GOOD", fuck we already got that earth's food is good ffs.

But the saddest thing about Super's Gohan and Videl is that they were pretty dead inside. Right now they changed Gohan into a complete different person forcing him that he wants to fight or is getting excited about that, while Videl is still a shadow of the tomboy she was. I mean, Bulma is still the same character after 30 years, so there are no excuses to mess those 2.

Can you blame the audience? Toriyama used/uses studies as an excuse to stop characters growing stronger, but portraits stupid manchild characters like Goku as the coolest because the only thing he 'knows' to do is defeat villains after they have destroyed the planet.
