So characters sitting and thinking/talking about every autistic detail than repeating it in different words like 5 more times? No, thanks.
Also, every mangafag needs to fuck off for wanting to have exactly the same thing in form of an anime. One of the best things about Youjo Senki is that every adaptation of the story is very different and focuses on different things. Why do you want to take it away?

Does this mean we only need to wait 3 months for a volume instead of 2 months for a chapter now?
>>
>>155932516
I'd rather it was at least more consistent, the manga and the LN have the most similarities but the manga takes the misunderstandings over the top, which I enjoy but I'm more for consistency. While I agree that the LN is wordy as shit its still a good read, and we read it as the author originally intended with no editors or animation directors to change things up
>>
>>155932313
Well then you are lost!

Anon, the mixture of combat drugs, lack of sleep, and lack of proper nutrition mean she's going to be a womanlet who is super flat for the rest of her life. It's also possible she may never hit puberty due to all this fuckery. Multiple accounts have stated female soldiers never hit puberty (or got their cycles MAJORLY fucked up) from all the stress and lack of vitamins. Joan of Arc for example had this issue, or so her squire claimed.

That's not evil. It's law. Tanya's only concern was ending the war as quickly as possible.
People in the setting legitimately suck anyway.
Why should Salary man give a single, flying fuck about anyone? His life was taken in a senseless act of violence. He was then reincarnated as a little orphan girl in fantasy not-Germany because the God in the anime is a particular sort of bastard who's more concerned with what humans fucking THINK than he is with what they do. This world is at constant war for no discernible reason other than being X getting his kicks and the people in it relishing their own bloodlust.
Tanya isn't evil. She's pissed, and rightly so.

Carl von Linné, der Vater der modernen Taxonomie, ordnete den Waschbären ebenfalls der Gattung Ursus zu, zuerst als Ursus cauda elongata („langschwanziger Bär“) in der zweiten Ausgabe seiner Systema Naturae und schließlich als Ursus lotor („Waschbär“) in der zehnten Ausgabe.

>....yeah you're the one that needs a (you)
>>
>>155938921
what makes you think that i'm calling for vigilantism?
>>
>>155939007
Actually no she didnt.
In her sense she saved human ressources and desasters by getting rid of two disobideant officer candidates that cant follow orders themself.

She had any right to shoot both of them ON THE SPOT for not following her orders and putting other members of her group in danger. If something would have happend she would have to take responsibiltiy because ITS HER responsibility to keep her soldeirs in line and follow orders.
Its the first thing you learn in episode 4 in the warcollege.

By getting "rid" of them through reassignment for those two she avoided shooting them her self, and probably got people not killed by the two incompetent officer candidates.

In war you dont disobey orders during combat NEVER its a sure thing to get yourself killed or later court martialed. If you are not happy about your officer you can write a report later and ask being reassigned to someone else.

Though it's understandable you gotta remember: morals mean opinion. Opinion doesn't require logic. Logically, yes, he should've been fired for missing work. But you have to take into account the opinions and feelings that would mark that act as "evil". To Tanya/Salaryman it's the only understandable punishment for going against company policy and he's in the right. To the fired man, this was a personal attack and therefore "evil" enough for him to feel the need to kill him. If someone walks up to you and punches you, that's bad to you right? But to them that's good.

>morals = opinion
>evil depends on morals
>evil depends on opinion

Doesn't make any sense either. It's impossible to even form an opinion without applying some sort of logic in the first place.

Both good or evil has nothing to do with morals or opinions, it's purely self-serving.

It's like I'm reading lines full of "stupid", or you are just making shit up as you go.

>>155942165
As a professional company with professional editors, their translation quality is usually good enough, and better than fan-translators.

But some fans hate some of their word-choice and localization. Things such as how they decide to spell names, or whether or not they keep the nuance of certain jokes and insults.

NGNL's first volume has a lot of people complaining about all the shitty meme jokes.

I don't think (or hope) that it'll turn out like that here though.
>>
>>155942293
I forgot to add kumo to YP's list too
>>
>>155942384
Yen Press's quality varies wildly with the particular translator they decide to hire for particular titles.

For example NGNL, Danmachi, and Log Horizon had no-name literally whos translating them, which led to weirdness and errors. Others like Goblin Slayer, Black Bullet, Maou-sama, or SAO had more experienced translators on them, which meant better translations. In general YP seems to put better translators on series they think will make them money though.

I never said Overlord's TL was a fan translator moron, that's actually half the reason I know that bitch sucks ass. I already posted this so get it through your thick skull this time. A fan translator has passion, and therefore won't make the same retarded mistakes as the 'paid professional' who is only looking to do their job as fast as possible with the least stress while skimming the book as all her fuck ups could not even be remotely possible if she was actually reading. Not even Google MTL can fuck that shit up.

The thing about fan translators being hired is completely separate, why are you mixing things up? The point is that very few translators are pro AND passionate, it's one or the other, and none on that list are actually qualified to be on the level of translators for international companies anyways, where minute details of translating would potentially cost you a lot of cash.

In any case.
>A fan translator has passion, and therefore won't make the same retarded mistakes as the 'paid professional' who is only looking to do their job as fast as possible
Thing is, >>155947649 is trying to say that poor Yen Press translations are because they hire bad fan translators and shoves them onto random titles. Whereas you are saying that poor Yen Press translations are because they hire professional translators who don't give a shit, so they should hire fan translators instead? Even though the majority of fan translators are pretty terrible (just look at Baka-Tsuki and Novelupdates) and the good ones are hard to come by.

>>
>>155948295
Yeah, you're not the target demographic then. They want to expand their market, but specifically within the states. If foreign buyers want the book, that's fine, but they don't feel like re-releasing the book with metric numbers instead, because $$$$.
Imperial vs metric isn't a bit deal breaker, so if you were going to buy the book anyways, you probably still will.
>>

I'm not all those people anon, nor am I supporting what >>155947649 said. Stop attaching different people's posts onto each other just because they are all shitting on YP. People shit on YP for different things.

The fact that you are using someone else's post to try and derail mine already tells me you're just trying to use semantics to win an argument instead of actually legitimize YP's quality which is skeptical at best.

Naturally I'm not saying most fan translators are great, cause there's a shit ton of scrubs that just do it for kicks especially in the chink and gook scene. But the ones that do a fairly good job do it well, and more importantly improve over time.

How many times has Overlord been revised by the fans? How many times has Overlord been revised by YP? You gonna get a reprint of that book you got there that says rabbit? Do they even update their digital version?

>>155948811
He's not bad. As stated earlier, he fucked up some stuff, but got some stuff right that Sky didn't. But it's definitely not "oh shit I'm a pro I'm way better", and that's not counting how a novel chapter has a bajillion times more words than anime episodes.
>>
>>155948936
>I'm not all those people anon, nor am I supporting what >>155947649 said.

>The fact that you are using someone else's post to try and derail mine already tells me you're just trying to use semantics to win an argument instead of actually legitimize YP's quality
I'm not legitimizing YP's quality, I'm pointing out that most of their translators aren't random bad fan TLs, which is a separate issue from whether their translations are any better than fan TLs.

>How many times has Overlord been revised by the fans? How many times has Overlord been revised by YP? Do they even update their digital version?
Now we're getting into economics. I couldn't tell you if they update Overlord's digital version since I didn't buy it. But apparently they did fix misprint in Re;Zero for the digital version, and they did update NGNL volume 1.
>>
>>155948935
>Imperial vs metric isn't a bit deal breaker
You lose a lot of granularity when you go from centimeters to inches, simply because an inch is larger than a centimeter. This was also a problem when Senran Kagura's characters' three sizes were converted for the Western release.
>>
>>155949170
I posted that simply to show it sucked ass, not that it's a fan translator. If you misinterpreted that, then fine my bad on that part.

>But apparently they did fix misprint in Re;Zero for the digital version, and they did update NGNL volume 1.

>I'm hoping they won't fuck up YS anymore than you, but I don't see the point in being optimistic when the proof is there.
At this point it's really a dice roll. I'd like to imagine they'll put someone competent on it like they have with their presumed moneymakers like Konosuba and Sword Art Online, but they seem to have strange priorities when Psycome gets someone with a master's degree in East Asian languages while Index gets some JLPT N2.

If you look at the tweet it's actually billed as "The Saga of Evil Tanya", which is slightly less verbose and even rhymes a little.
Then again, Slime Tensei is currently billed as "Regarding Reincarnating as Slime" which is just bad English, so they may not be final.

Supposedly, November, according to a post on /r/lightnovels by an attendee.

Also according to the same post, the YP representative openly laughed at a question that asked if they would consider having a forum for readers to write feedback like how J-Novel does. So that's business as usual for them.

Well that's sad. You'd think kadokawa owning the majority of their ass in shares they would do something. That said they probably thought it was feedback about the story instead of feedback on the TL quality.

>>155962159
That's kind of out of their hands. Most of the time spent in between releases is not spent translating but rather the overhead created by typesetting, printing, QC, distribution, and waiting for approvals at every step. Without all that physical overhead, you can do ludicrous things like J Novel Club's one volume per six weeks schedule for Smartphone.
>>
>>155962820
Yeah, by cutting out physical releases, J-Novel has subsequently cut out the need for typesetting (except on illustrations), printing and distribution.
The fact they release parts of each volume in increments weeks before the final release also means they cut out the cost of QC, as they can just have their users QC for them, practically for negative-cost. Their subscribers literally pay to do a job they would otherwise have to pay a professional for.

Nigga wtf? I can't speak on Sky's translation of Overlord cause I don't read trash, but his Youjo Senki translation was horrible. Was awkward as hell to read and filled with numerous grammar errors. You can have an extremely accurate translation, but if you destroy the prose and write like google translate, what the hell is the point in reading it? Might as well read a summary. Sky seems like a good guy but if you think he's a competent translator boy are you wrong. I have faith in Yen Press, they put out a stellar translation of Spice and Wolf that I have yet to see any fan translation come even close to sniffing. And needless to say, they could half-ass it and still put up a much better translation than Sky did.
>>
>>155963104
And physical release are also a financial burden because even if they get shipped to shops or e-commerce warehouses they might not sell at all for a long time or some might even get returned at the end.

TokyoPop earned their own downfall for pushing out so much shit that the limited market which wasn't working adults by majority couldn't sustain the overhead costs and niche of niche titles not selling.

Too many titles, some of them with very minor prior fanbase or no fanbase at all and cranking out volume every 8 weeks with ever increasing new licenses.

Digital releases would be a better bet for wildcard licenses of unknown reader base size at start if you ask me. If it sells well then put out a shiny physical edition for premium/hardcover/extras.
>>
>>155963963
>And physical release are also a financial burden because even if they get shipped to shops or e-commerce warehouses they might not sell at all for a long time or some might even get returned at the end.
But I guarantee most people who actually buy LNs aren't willing to pay for a digital version no matter how low the cost.
>>
>>155964020
Yeah for LNs that's another gamble and I can understand their reasoning since I wouldn't either if I didn't have an e-ink reader. I got back into actually buying books after I bought mine 3 years ago.

Unless you're of course some fetishist that gets hard-on from turning pages or smelling leather covers/printing materials.

I have few leather-bound books as collector though and stopped originally buying physical due low interest in english originals and no more shelf space (2 shelves full already).
>>
>>155964020
In my experienced, it's been mixed, really. A lot of people love the nostalgia of holding paper books, while a lot of people find that requiring shelf-space is a dated issue, and just want to be able to read wherever they are.

I'm somewhere in the middle. I find digital convenient, but for books I like, I don't mind showing them off on my shelf and holding open a page. I like to think my moderate side is more common, but what do I know?
>>
>>155949305
Nigga have you read Sky's translation of Youjo Senki? It's fucking awful, when I'm the one pointing out grammar errors and shitty prose, you know you have problems. If Yen Press puts out a shittier translation then Sky did, then there is no hope for Youjo Senki getting a proper translation and you might as well start learning Japanese if you give a shit about translation quality.
>>
>>155963962
>Stellar translation for S&W
You mean completely dropping the archaic way Holo speaks for most of the time? Granted it was a tall order considering there's no easy way to emulate it in English but still that's far from stellar.

I'd give them above average grade since I bought the whole series but no need to say it was the best it could be, especially with the fiasco of that collectors ed chicken scratch font and leather spine that would come off. Luckily I didn't fall for that.
>>
>>155964020
Na, I'd buy digitally if it were the only option. I do like owning a collection and reading something tangible, though. Supposedly JNC are on track with their projections. And there has to be at least some kind of market there or Yen Press wouldn't be bothering with retroactively securing the digital rights for titles like Maou-sama, Index, Spice and Wolf, and Sword Art Online after the physical versions have been out for so long.
>>
Is this show unironically good?
>>
>>155964324
The physical properties of the books don't influence translation quality. Also, archaic? Are you expecting them to put it in Old/Early Modern English? They did a good enough job, you can tell Holo has a different voice that is more sophisticated and knowledgeable than the other characters. Also, if you think Spice and Wolf's translation was above average, boy are you going to be disappointed when you read other light novels. It only goes downhill from here.

Is Youjo Senki even about World War I anymore?

It would be cool if the story was about "what if Schifflen worked, Germany conquered France during WWI" but it doesn't seem that way. We know what happened in World War II, and currently in YS it's World War II tech with mages.

Also, would Tanya trade her Silver Wings medal for two feet and some tits?

Kaiserreich in World War II is interesting. It's a meritocracy and pretty much the opposite of everything the real-life Third Reich stood for.

This, it takes prolonged "setup" and tech race period as the starter pistol for Tanya's entry into the setting but it was never really about ww2 tech in ww1 and making one country win or change history.
It was all along about how Tanya tries to navigate and secure her long life while being hard headed about her ideals and how certain someone sets her up.

That's true.
For titles that were 10+ volumes in like Log Horizon it's frustrating to see YP take over and fan TL discontinue.
But YS was ~1 volume in, not a big loss.
Considered the speed of fan TL it should prove to be beneficial to anon.

What I mean is: I don't hold any illusions that anon would pay YP for it's releases.
It's just in this particular case licensing would do more good than harm.
They can't do worse than 2 volumes a year and that's twice as fast as Sky.

Starvation explains that, though stealing is an actual crime. I'll give you that.

Disobeying yours superiors can and will end badly. Just look at how Patton flipped his shit when he found some random fag resting while his comrades were dying.
Retards shouldn't be in the armed forces.

War is evil, what is your point? Dissolve the army? Also engaging the enemy is her job, it was either fighting or dying and she made her choice.

Not a direct kill, also they had it coming. Darwinism at play here.

Their fault for not believing, she literally followed the laws of war. No crime was committed here. Also she only attacked the factory, not the entire city. Once again Darwinism.

Resistance != civilians. They got warned.

Erm, being late regularly is legal case for employee termination where I live.

I wouldn't to that to his face, but even having doubts without voicing them is no different for an entity of such magnitude.

>Steals food from
Wut? Even if she did - she was a starving child, I don't judge people who commit crimes for food.
>Almost kills a cadet
Do you know what the army is?
You let the shit go - you lose your authority as a commanding officer.
And LN depicted him being an insubordinate prick on a regular basis.
>Slaughters a squad of mages
Pin a medal.
It's war, that's what soldiers do in a war.
>Purposely places men in a pillbox
She did no such thing.
Anime is just being retarded about skipping her internal monologue: she was grinning about some shit like promotions and efficiency at that moment.
She also sent them back from the frontlines from the get go in LN: said volunteers don't have the commitment she expects from a soldier.
Their deployment was also out of her hands after she refused taking command over them: her superior was probably the one who reassigned them to that pillbox.
>Tricks a city garrison
French break war rules first.
You hide behind civilians and violate international treaties - you get those civilians killed the worst possible way.
Soviets did that with guerillas - and Nazis responded with brutal force.
Ain't no one got a patience to be nice with civvies when they smile to you under the sun but slit your buddies throats at night.

French should not have violated war conventions.
You don't get to hide behind human shields and expect enemy to just give up on you because shooting civies is against the rules: you broke them first.

Tanya knows they have the manpower.
I bet she'll go full out with her terror x human resources attrition doctrine: eroding enemy forces and morale instead of gaining ground like conventional warfare did at the time.
But high command\court will fuck that up demanding more victories in a classical sense and those can't be good for strained Empire.

VIsha is what, 15-17 y/o?
Her family fled notRussia when she was aware of her surroundings, but not so much, so about 2-3 years.
That places the revolution at 1912/1914.
USSR was shaky and unprepared to WWII at 1941 initially.
Imagine what a fucking mess the country is just 10 years after the revolution.
Unarmed zerg-rush is probably all they can muster and Tanya is ideal for dealing with this kind of enemy.

>le YP is too slow meme

Let's put ourselves in YP's shoes. Here is what a 2 month schedule would look like:

A normally 4 week translation could possibly be rushed for 2.5 weeks. 2 weeks maybe if the TL is both available (they have no other work, either from YP or from other employers) and willing.

Of course this is *much* more expensive. Here we already have the first obstacle to a 2 month schedule. Are the increase in sales going to cover the increased costs, ESPECIALLY increased costs within a small time frame? Chances are no. Aiming for impulse buyers who's interest wanes very quickly isn't a stable strategy in a market as small as the EN LN market currently is.

But let's ignore that. Let's say that magically we can assure we'll get enough sales to cover the increased translation costs.

TL manuscript comes in after 2 weeks. It will absolutely have way more errors than normal. The editor will have to turn it around in a few days at most. They won't be able to work on *anything* else during this time frame.

This means that if they have other projects, those projects are now going to get delayed. And when you rush things, errors are going to slip through. But at least you get overtime! Oh, but overtime is more costs.

Then edited manuscript is copyedited and proofed. Meanwhile design is laying it out and production is figuring out the physical properties of the book. They have a week at most to do this. If they have other projects, guess what those projects are getting delayed because of the 2 month schedule.

Oh, but since you're asking everyone to put in overtime to make sure, even with all the inevitable errors that it ships with as few errors as possible, so wooo costs!

By the time first pass comes in, it's already been 4 weeks. Only 4 weeks left. Now the staff have to check everything while sending it for approvals to the JP pub/author. They better look close because with a 2 month release schedule, they'll only get the one chance.
>>
>>155991883
>>155985425
And of course, inevitably, things are going to slip through because it's a rush. They get proofs from printers and you PRAY that Japan gives you the green light on the *very first round*.

This means they love *literally everything* and found nothing wrong that they want you to change. Guess how often that happens. Oh, and hurrying the proofs to at least get the one pass obviously costs rush fees.

But let's say, yes Japan loves everything and nothing is wrong. 3 weeks left. Normally the books should *already be at the warehouses by now*. Assets are prepped for printing and sent to the printer. Printer does final checks and sends back samples. But it's basically just for giggles at this point because it's literally too late to send any changes at this point.

Normally, you would use these samples as a guide to catch printing errors you see, misaligned assets, missing images, etc (this happens often and is an issue on the printer side that needs to be corrected by the publisher but since it's a spot check, you could theoretically get all clean ones while all the print error books were right below the ones picked to send as samples). Rush fees, of course.

Final printing done. 1.5 weeks left. If you're lucky. Publishers generally don't own printers. Printers have hundreds if not thousands of clients and a small LN publisher is far from their most important customer. If a bigger client needs to bump you so they can print 15 million fried chicken menus, guess who's taking the bump. Maybe you can ensure that you won't get bumped. Oh, but that costs money...

So AGAIN you pray nothing happens because with a 2 month release schedule, if everything isn't literally perfect, you're boned. By the by, at 1.5 weeks, the books should already *be in stores* awaiting the on sale date.
>>
>>155991918
>>155991883
>>155985425
Now they ship to warehouses. You pray nothing goes wrong. You do the sun dance because you sure as hell don't want rain, sleet, snow, or houses from Kansas falling down because those will undoubtedly crush your last hopes of releasing on time for a 2 month schedule. Oh, rush fees.

5 days left, you're books are all hopefully at the warehouse. What, you thought the warehouses were at the printers? Hahaha. If only life were that convenient. Now you need to ship the books *everywhere*. But everywhere, with this time frame, can only include continental US, Canada, and Mexico. If even that. Oh well, with 2 month release schedule who has time to worry about anyone else anyway?

We now need to get everything from the warehouses to the retailers in at the latest, 4 days. Because the stores aren't going to sell your books out the back of a delivery truck like they're fresh strawberries. Oh, to ensure a 4 day delivery shipment of so much freight it's going to cost more? Well, dear. If we must...

And finally, release day! Woo the hell is over. All those 60~70 hour work weeks were worth it! And of course our customers increased ten fold, no *twenty fold* because we were 2 months faster! And it covers *all* the costs yay!

Now we can finally re—what's that? This is our life now? Guess what, we all quit. Good luck keeping that 2 month release schedule long enough to not go bankrupt.

In short: 2 months per volume is unsustainable. 1 month per volume is physically impossible. It literally can't be done unless conditions on the ground are completely different.

I'm just pointing out that you'll earn ire of fandom by taking over titles that are 10 volumes in fan-translated and fresh volumes TL hit the english net for free some weeks after release.
For titles like Youjo Senki publishers like YP can actually do better than fan TL since it's snail-paced and two volumes a year would be twice as fast and also since only ~1 vol is translated so far.

Don't be naive to expect understanding from end content consumers.
They just want their shit and want it fast.
When YP comes in and makes it slower than fan TL - no amount of production process explanations will get through: those don't matter.
Can you do it faster than fan TL?
No?
Then you'll get shit from anon.
It's just simple as that.

That all goes without saying. I'm not searching for sympathy. Maybe you do or do not deserve a one volume per month schedule, that's a debate for another day. I'm just addressing a very specific anon here >>155985425 who believes that this deserved one month schedule is actually in any way achievable, because it's a naive view of how book production works.

I understand J Nobel Club gets a lot less shit around here simply because they are faster than the fan translations, even though they basically outsource editing and QC to their subscribers.

Again: that don't matter to end content consumers.
I don't mind subscribing and paying monthly if I know I'll get releases fast once it's out.
I'm already subscribed to few authors on Patreon\Royalrd and other resources and I'm okay with regular payments there.

The predatory takeover of titles that are 10+ volumes in by fan TL are inexcusable and can't be justified by any amount of real-life examples of hard-copies production process.
That's why Jew Press is hated, tot because of it's 2 volumes per year release rate.
If they would take over the series after first 1 or 2 volumes - they wouldn't even get the fraction of shit anon says about them.

J Novel Club and other subscribed services are the future and I hope Jew Press dies soon or adapt same model.

Fans that onto the series would appreciate faster release and normalfags that are targeted for weeabofication will still be targeted.
Open a services with stratified subscription payment: most customers won't mind paying bigger total in small monthly transactions than they would by buying two hard copies a year if they would be confident in timely releases.

Of course that guy would come in and explain to me why this is a bad idea from a business standpoint and I'll explain why I don't give a fuck as end content consumer.

The hard-copy model JP is focused currently only targets the normalfags because fans are pissed off at JP and just pirate the rips.
Profit from anon is lost.
>>
>>155994229
>The predatory takeover of titles that are 10+ volumes in by fan TL are inexcusable
I'm sure I don't have to point out that the market responds both parties. win-win situation.
Yen Press sells to the casuals, and turns a profit because there is a market of casuals.
Meanwhile, because there is also market for fan translations that are ahead, and a ready supply of readers to provide the e-peen in exchange, the translations for those actually popular titles, meanwhile, stay alive. SAO's fan translation continued openly and unabated. Spice and Wolf went underground and finished ahead of YP. Haruhi Volume 10 and 11 were fan translated and YP said nothing. Maou-sama went under password protection, and stayed alive. Accel World continued off-site, until it was simply overtaken by YP. ReZero still sits on WordPress untouched. "Fanfic" of Konosuba continues. Overlord is still being fan translated.

Fan translations that really died outright were slow as shit, even slower than YP (like Rokka and SAO Progressive and now Accel World) or literally unreadable shit (like Danmachi)

Let's not pretend the licensing is actually denying the fans anything, because any translator who isn't a complete pussy, translating a work that the readers want, has experienced any real consequences for continuing anyway.
>>
>>155994323

Okay, firstly I could easily link to all those blogspots and wordpress sites that are openly displaying the translations, which are clearly not pastebins.

Secondly, those translators who actually opted for the pastebin route, did the pastebin succeed in distributing to the hardcore fans who wanted to read it? Clearly yes, you still got to read it and make pdfs and epubs and toss them onto homuwaifu. Is there such a huge difference?

>hivemind would've finished the volume in a week using Google Docs with shared access
If Fate/Hollow Ataraxia's translation has taught me anything, it's that hivemind translation is a sure way to get error-riddled and occasionally unreadable word salad.

In Goblin Slayer case - nobody even bothered to pick up it for fan TL since YP picked it up right on the spot.
This is arguably a good thing, but not in GS case: it's relatively easy runes and fan TL or digital release like J Novel Club could've done it much faster.
So there's at least this difference.

>hivemind translation
>error-riddled and occasionally unreadable word salad
Nah, it straighten up after some time.
Hivemind or subscribers outsourcing still have better quality/time ratio than hard-copies that pander to normalfags.
Whole reason I tell you to stop shilling YP model there: it's not going to work for anon.

No publisher, whether on the English side or the Japanese side, was willing to take that risk before, because of the concern of digital releases cannibalizing physical sales. J Novel Club are the first to even dare to try, and we can only speculate as to how they convinced Overlap and Hobby Japan to sign off on their business model. I hope it works out for them, the English LN market does need more competition than.
>>
>>155995219
>JP DMCA the shit out of the fan TL but it's somehow TL fault for backing out
A long long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, Spice and Wolf received a C&D on Baka-Tsuki. Yet Drunken Wolf Translations was a thing, and continued to be a thing until they finished all 17 volumes.
More recently, we can point to the examples of Konosuba and Campione, as works which the Japanese publishers ordered taken down but which had translators willing to simply thumb their noses at the publisher. And suffered no ill consequences as a result.
Like I said. If only the translator wasn't a pussy.
>>
>>155995219
>This is arguably a good thing, but not in GS case: it's relatively easy runes and fan TL or digital release like J Novel Club could've done it much faster.
If you check Novelupdates, there was in fact an attempt at fan translating.
Surprise surprise YP was faster than them when there was no head start advantage.
However the fan translator still had a place, because they later translated extra chapter that YP did not, responding to a demand that YP did not fill.
