This anime doesn't sit right with me. Usually in Monkey's Paw type stories, the person is responsible for their own downfall with the devil's deal just being the catalyst. But in this story it feels like Mogruo is targeting vulnerable people and setting them up to fail.

I've been trying to find the underlying message in this anime. I also know that one of the creators also did Doraemon, which has Nobita being extremely vain and naive which Doraemon enables with his magical bag.
I don't think the salesman is outright evil, he does outline what the conditions are of the "deals" he makes with people. People's greed or whatever just takes over and they screw themselves in the end.

Maybe the moral of the story is to say that chances and opportunities always come at a cost.
