The franchise is already popular and one of kotobukiya's best selling lines after only a couple years. Within a day or two of release Gourai was sold out everywhere and for certain ones the preorders were mostly sold out within an hour of going up for preorder. And this was without any sort of manga or anime or even really background/setting made for it yet, they were still just mecha musume of frame arms kits at this point. And until they finally started doing reissues of them it wasn't unusual to see them selling for double to triple the original price on the aftermarket.

So anime industry now simply reduces to the fact that every future new anime will need to have its own app game in order to sell.

They have to pay the participants, and the venue, plus producing merchandise etc etc so I wonder if it’s really all that worth it, as in, doesn’t the whole cost of the events cut out a significant portion of the additional revenue? Do the additional sales really compensate the costs of putting together so many events?

>In most cases, even if you buy the BD and get picked in the lottery, you still need to buy an actual ticket to the event. They get you to pay twice, the first time is simply for the privilege of maybe being allowed to buy it the second time. So take an event that was going to sell out anyway, and charge some large portion (or all) of the attendees an extra BD’s worth (say ¥3500 on average back to the committee since they take about half of MSRP) on top of it for the BD. And of course, they can make tons of money off merchandise sales at the venue.

The production committee decides to make Anime , not the studio. It doesn't matter if Deen wants to make Konosuba 3, all that matters is Kadokawa and Kadokawa generally decides to make 2 seasons. Their interest lies in promoting the scource material , Konosuba won't receive any large boosts to the Ln sales anymore, therefore it is better to adapt a different scource material.
