If anything, Isidro ruined the series. He hasn't added anything much to the story aside from comedic relief, while it would've been prefectly fine to just have Puck by himself.

But Griffith was the one responsible for the world transformation. Schierke exists to explain how the magic (which always existed in Berserk) works in this universe. And all that talk about astral planes is really interesting, which makes Schierke a good character IMO.
