In a few episodes, Akko and Ursula will have a big fight because Akko has stopped training traditionally and is using Croix's gadgets. Akko will storm off. We will get an scene of Akko calming down and deciding to set things right. Then the scenes switchs to Ursula thinking that she was too harsh on Akko and that she will apologize the next time she sees her. Someone is knocking at the door, Ursula thinks it's Akko so she runs to open the door. Scene changes to a door opening in first person, but we see it's Croix opening the door of her room to Akko; Akko wants to set things straight with Ursula so she came with Croix for help, Croix smiles ominously. Scene changes again, the person knocking at Ursula's door was Diana. Ursula, a bit disappointed, "D-did you need anything?", Diana "I just came to ask a few questions Ursula-sensei... or should I say Shiny Chariot". Perfect cliffhanger ending.

The story is going into a too old against too innovative battle.
In one side too traditional witches that are now boring and uninteresting, on the other witches so new that basically they are no witches anymore.
I wonder if this can be considered a battle between two conception of phantasy. From one side one too strict and rooted into classic tropes, where witchcraft is all about old hags and couldrons and nothing spectacular happen. On the other side the sci-fi indulging and overanalizing one, the one were nerds want the blueprints of every magical stick and the exact composition of every potion, invent phisical laws for magic and overationalize everything sometime even going into sci-fi territory.
While Akko and Ursula represent a concept of phantasy that is simply "magic". No shit to explain, no ties with traditional witchcraft, just make it cool, explosive, and enjoyable. Make phantasy fantastic.

The ghost thing was mostly her doing since instead of accepting the role of benig sacrificed she not only got Ursula to help with the ghost but she also stalled long enough for Ursula to find the solution. She's also the only one able to use the Shiny Rod, so by default she was the only one capable of freeing it.
