Considering some of the artwork that goes into the actual LN, that seems a bit hard to believe.

I would have preferred if she commandeered the A-1 rocket anyway and completed a bullheaded suicide mission. Then a final conversation with Being X just before impact where she tries to explain away her mad impulse as the only logical way the war could have ended, and realizing she's gained patriotism, self-sacrifice and faith in others.

The anime isn't anymore edgy than the novel except in the anime-original scenes, which stand out simply because they don't make sense. At least, because of those scenes it created an under or undeveloped narrative that Tanya is actually tsundere toward war instead of wanting to get the hell out. That narrative didn't exist in the LN, she is Ciaphas Cain all the way there.

Germany was predestined to lose without Tanya's help, and since she lived near the capital it is likely her orphanage would have been burned down and all the women raped/killed by invaders. Later scenes in the anime showed that the boys who fought over bread when Tanya was 9 were still fighting over food long after she became a Major in the air force. Things would not have improved for her.

My personal headcanon about her abilities is they were an oversight. Sonzai X gave Tanya all her salaryman memories and full adult intelligence right when she was born, and that knowledge likely overdeveloped her infant brain with the insane magic aptitude as a side effect. Mary Sue aside, most of the mages tend to have high intelligence, brain power and magic probably go hand in hand.

Actually it's mentioned that she does attend church in both the manga and LN to curse Sonzai X and that she keeps her rifle on her whenever possible to shoot it if it appears. The manga and LN also go into more detail about her fear of losing her free will as she loses increasing levels of self-awareness whenever she uses the Type 95 at full power, which is all but glossed over in the anime IIRC. That actually makes Sonzai X all the more terrifying an opponent in my opinion, her mind is the only thing she's managed to keep from her previous life after all.

Entity X is in this for the long-run and isn't specifically out to kill Tanya, it has every reason to believe that by the time the war is over Tanya's "false" faithful persona will have integrated with the real one or overwritten it. And the more famous she becomes and the more she's shown to be pious and devout, the more faith in it will spread in that world. And then it can reincarnate Tanya again and spread the same effect in another world, and yet another.
Once its broken in the most defiant of its decriers, it can win. Truly a despecible demiurge and the perfect opponent for someone like Tanya.
