it was decent, but mostly its trust credit given to it by Shirobako/PA Works fans to see if it delivers.

Its generic secondhand PA Works tourist show trying to copy Shirobako to attract its fans

Its only "refreshing" as its not 6th magic academy battle harem this season

If you're poor you should buy rice, beans and frozen veggies as the core staples. Those three items are cheap and cover most of the nutritional bases.

If you have a bit more money, potatoes and sweet potatoes are great. Investing in a slow cooker is awesome too, since you can slow-cook really cheap cuts of meat and get great results. Buy what's on sale and try to slowly build up a nice collection of spices and seasonings.

When you do get fresh vegetables, pick the ones where it counts. Aromatics and ones that impart a lot of flavour when fresh are best.

If you're willing to cook, budget and pay attention to meal planning and preparation, you can feed a single person for as little as $50 a month (though that's probably almost entirely vegetarian, and I would recommend a b12 supplement at the very least if you go that way).

Honestly, it's probably better to do the beans separate for a couple reasons:

1 - dried beans need to be soaked overnight, and then must be boiled for at least 10 minutes before cooking them to break down toxic substances. Also, they just need a long time to cook.

2 - Canned beans will make your rice soggy and get really crumbly after cooking for that long in a rice cooker.

You might want to try lentils, which will cook in almost the exact same time, and with a similar amount of water as white rice. Throw in a couple broth cubes, and it turns out really good in the rice cooker while being extremely filling.

Yep, there was absolutely no slang used in Gabriel Dropout...

And really if you think slang is on the same level as memes, you're retarded. Memes add pop culture references to things that weren't there. Slang changes a character's wording to envoke the same kind of feeling as the Japanese equivalent phrasing. Nuance is lost in translation, this give some of it back in a slightly different manner.

She was pretty desperate and accepted it in a rush.

I had interviews where the company added conditions that weren't on the contract during the interview and told you right out "accept or don't even hope being hired".

I just found it infuriating. Here we had a 20 yo college student right out of luck, with 10 bucks in the bank and 31 failed job interviews and FINALLY she gets a break and what does she do? Kick, scream, and whine the whole 22 minutes.

She has full time work being a god damn queen for the next year and she can only complain. Like what the fuck?? She should be ecstatic.

She even finds out that her happiest memory in her entire life was in this town during its heyday and she still can't liken to the idea of working there.

The town is even genuinely interesting, with real feel good people who want the best for it. The old man is so bro he let her on the job even though she's the wrong girl, he's so bro he letsh er drink with all his buddies, and he's so bro that when he finds out the girl is on the fence about the job he fuckin dresses up and puts on a play for her thinking it'd inspire to like the job and what does she do? BREAK HIS FUCKING NECK.

Here we have a full 22 minute episode of a failing millennial who does nothing but kick and scream and damn it watching this was stressful. The next episode better make up for the wreck that was the first.
>>
>>155540358
>FINALLY she gets a break
Nigga you don't understand.
She's a safety net kid. If her finances fail, she moves back home to the country and continues to live a cushy life where her financially secure middle-class parents pay for everything and she can work some easy rural job through family connections.

She doesn't want any of that. The reason she's kicking and screaming is because the job she got is basically putting her right out in the country, where she'd be if she failed. She only needs the money so she can stay in the city, so moving out of the city defeats the whole point. That's why she's upset. The job itself doesn't actually matter, she just needs something to financially enable her to stay downtown and party like a 20-something country girl. All the money in the world won't enable the lifestyle she wants if she's stuck in the sticks.
>>
>>155526000
Don't compare Shirobako to that trash
>>
>>155539696
That's awful. Were they bullshit conditions that made you reject the job?
>>
>>155540511
I can get that I suppose. To her accepting the job is the same as failing. That'd explain why she's so adamant about going back to Tokyo.

Is still don't forgive her for breaking old man's neck, though. He was nothing but nice to her.
>>
>>155540358
>I just found it infuriating. Here we had a 20 yo college student right out of luck, with 10 bucks in the bank and 31 failed job interviews and FINALLY she gets a break and what does she do? Kick, scream, and whine the whole 22 minutes.

Damn, who knew getting dragged into a job she didn't want was a gift in disguise. Even though she has a college degree I'm sure she's happy working a 1-year contract for a modeling agency that has nothing to do with her chosen career path.

inb4 "read the contract". Modeling companies selling you off to the highest bidder in non-standard contracts is a shitty ethical violation.

>She has full time work being a god damn queen for the next year and she can only complain. Like what the fuck?? She should be ecstatic.

Last I checked, local governments don't recognize made-up positions of authority. Even in the figurative "queen" sense she'll still be working non-stop for that year.

>She even finds out that her happiest memory in her entire life was in this town during its heyday and she still can't liken to the idea of working there.

Her happiest memory is completely separate from the context of living and working in bumfuck nowhere. It could have just as easily been in metro Tokyo or a foreign country. Additionally the memory was about being spoiled as a child. Adults working full-time jobs don't fulfill a similar role.

BREAK HIS FUCKING NECK.

They literally go over this in the episode. They had already submitted the deposit to the modeling agency and would have lost money if they hadn't brought her on.

Adults don't go chasing women in the middle of the night in order to convince them for a job. That's fucking weird. The old guy is a nutjob (openly acknowledged by other town members) who botched the entire hiring and coronation process. Who gives a shit if he's nice.

Because people got lured into the threads ESPECIALLY by the poll results and it got popular. However, the show had an "episodic => plot-oriented" switch, which made it seem like it didn't know where it was going.
F/a/ggots who didn't like episodic stories shat on it, /a/utists who couldn't stand the switch started shitting on it, but it was still talked about, be it with love or hatred, and it gathered even more hatred from /a/'s contrarians because "hurrrr stop the generals".
The finishing blow were the sales.

Flip Flappers did everything that could have pissed off /a/utists and therefore gathered a pool of hatred around itself.

It got exposure because it won the poll, and that provokes people to shit on it. Most of the people shitting on it probably didn't even watch it, but winning a boardwide poll and then selling poorly turns it into an easy target to shit on.

>>155544014
It started out largely episodic, with some foreshadowing of a larger plotline hinted at in the background. It stayed episodic until the 10th episode, where the plot stepped into the foreground with a big twist and dramatic reveal. Since people had been in it 9 episodes for the fun episodic adventures, the shift was unwelcome and lots of people consider it the weaker part of the series and a squandering of the story's potential. It was nowhere near a major fuck up or great downward spiral, nothing that would be exceptionally polarizing. It was just shift that mildly disappointed some fans, then got blown out of proportion later on by dedicated shitposters, like the one who randomly brought up the show in this thread just to start an argument.

The airing threads were full of spam from the folk that normally shit up dead shows like nanoha and madoka, so I guess that set the tone for how people would talk about the series afterwards. In reality it's just kind of a pretty show with some cool ideas that somehow became a magnet for shitposting.

If there's something you must NOT lie about, it's your abilities. Because you make yourself a bigger fish than what you really are, you're gonna get fired as soon as you set foot inside the company.
Otherwise, you can lie here and there and make your stories a little more entertaining or be a bit extravagant about what would be only trivial shit in your life, like that one project that you barely participated in but you say you gave it your all and it taught you new things.

I actually do alright in interview scenarios because I'm decent at bluffing, but this is one aspect that I really hate about them. I want to work for your company, I will do a good job and I will work hard. What my hobbies are outside of the 9-5 are nobody's business and I fail to see how those sort of questions are relevant to my level of qualification for the job being offered. .

I don't get the "I want to live in a big city" meme

I have lived in both New York City and a rural part of North Carolina and if I had my choice right now I'd drop my salaryman job and move back to the sticks. I was way happier there.
>>
>>155547231
Living in the big city is the socially acceptable japanese thing. It's less of a thing in the US because the American dream since the 1950's pushed the house in the suburbs.
>>
>>155547171
Yeah. I just make up hobbies that are hard to verify. One job interview I attended even asked me whether I use social media. Because I don't and that's what I told them, I never did find out what the purpose of that question was.

>>155547220
Ireland. I might be overstating the importance of the hobbies elements based on my own personal job-hunting experience, but you definitely need to have at least a few on your CV. It's drilled into us from secondary school. About 50% of the interviews I've ever attended have involved a question(s) about my hobbies.

>>
>>155547436
Japan has needed work reform for some time.
Standardizing hours, reducing forced overtime, encouraging telecommuting initiatives, and rural reinvestment.

The first two are also becoming a problem in America too because technology allows you to be reached anywhere so companies demand you effectively always be on the clock when you're only being paid for 8 hours.
>>
>>155547387
Cities in Japan aren't full of crime, drugs and danger like European and US ones are.

Tokyo is a hyper efficient 24 Hour metropolis. I lived in similar cities and there's so much going on, to do anything is so simple and it's actually really fun when you're young. After work you can just hop on a train and go anywhere and do anything without worrying about getting home before the bad people come out, or worrying when stuff shuts, because it doesn't.

A 20-something wants friends her own age, the potential of meeting a boyfriend, going out and having fun and on top of that she doesn't want to return to the town she grew up in after going to University and living with her parents, because then you feel like a failure. Most Uni graduates would murder themselves before willingly returning home without a Job.

I live in a safe, modern European city that is still very new to me and I just go straight home after work every day. I doubt that would be any different were I living in Tokyo. Hence why I would have no problem living in the countryside where there are no young people, nothing to do, and no-one to see.

Some people don't mind crowded and the rents are proportional to wages, also when you're young you actually don't care about that, you've got no financial strains except rent so as long as you afford that it's fun fun fun with the excess.
Besides with cheap and quick trains a lot of people live towards the outskirts and get super-fast lines in It's commuter-belts done right.

>>155547737
Fair enough, maybe it's a different culture too. Since everyone works til quite late and you can easily go to a different part of the city, a lot of people meet up after work, eat food and drink then get the train home. Unless you get overtime.
In Europe you generally go to a pub/bar near where you live after work, there's also less of a street food culture so that plays a major role.

Yeah I agree with this. Politically, culturally and religiously the urban/rural communities are really divided. Both sides are extremely narcissistic towards each other. I can't say which is worse, but the rural communities/grass roots republicans have it extremely right on politics though.

I live in suburban America and the only thing I wish would change is people here get real culture in their lives. The suburbs are full of people stuck in this weird income/happiness allotment.

People don't do anything in the suburbs and honestly the kids I see in American high schools worry me.

Having been on both sides of the interview, here is my best advice for people - You have to explain gaps in your CV in a way that isn't quickly verifiable, so don't tell some serious bullshit because we WILL follow up on it. And try to have at least a couple of questions for the interviewer regarding the position/company/benefits/ect., because most of the time not asking any questions makes me as an interviewer think you are just going through the motions.

I already read about shitty company on the internet. I wouldn't even come if I didn't know about this. Why the fuck should I ask about something I already know.
HRfags should be gassed.

You'd be surprised just how many people show up to an interview absolutely unprepared. Plus asking questions like that(particularly about benefits) puts it into the interviewers head that the interview is just a formality and that the job is yours.

>>155554903
Just make up some bullshit about doing freelance shit from home or taking care of a parent or traveling(this is the best option if you are a good bullshitter) - most interviewers just gloss over it unless you are an absolute tard about it.

It would be my honor to serve as Her Majesties palanquin bearer. My Queen gives me the strength to lift Her Majesty high above the filthy commoners splashing around in the mud. If I must I'll take the rear poles so I might catch a whiff of the Royal Loli Farts as we stroll through the country-side. We have a job opening for the front palanquin bearer. Job duties include, following directions given by the Queen herself, and acting as human step-stool. Be warned, one wrong move and you'll feel the wrathful kicks of Her Majesties little loli feet.

Well, we can take you on as a palanquin intern. The pay is three insults an hour with an added bonus of the will to live.

So they can stalk your FB profile and shit. Which they WILL do. It's standard practice. Source: bff is tasked to do it and he works at a *police station*. On second thought, maybe that's sort of a good idea in that case. But also, electronics chain, low-level office job, both got internet-stalked and I know because one job flat-out said so and the other one did it and I knew someone who already worked there who warned me so I made a fake nothing because if they can't deal with my opinions and shit online, I'd rather suck dick behind a dumpster for cash than work there.

Do whatever you can do to get close to the key persons. Play golf if you must. Join a church or an organization. I landed my first job because of my professor in college. He knows a lot of people and they would easily take in anyone recommended by him. I didn't have an interview.
