This was a goddamn fucking PERFECT episode. It would be stupid trying to go through it all, but every single character came to life. Bringing out the red carpet again as new S4's first introduction and showing those little girls around the school flipped the whole perspective of the viewer around to being the ones looking down on the new students. Smelling and hearing Koharu on Venus Ark is already enough to excite me, but then Elza's actual performance blew me away.

Elza was introduced pretty much on-point. She doesn't literally "steal" anybody, she convinces them to join with her performances. That's exactly the sort of thing perfectly suited to Aikatsu. And I think I saw people doubting Yume because she was overpowered and couldn't answer 'no' right away. I hope you're not serious. It only takes the tiniest bit of empathy to understand a 14 year old girl who's grabbed by the chin by a tall, confident lady and then told by her idol Hime that she's the best idol ever, and then even told that Yume's been chosen by this specific person to also become perfect to have her brain short-circuited for a few seconds. Get down into her shoes and think for a second.

Anyway, I'm hyped. This is going to be great.

I also forgot to mention that Asahi is there to focus on Koharu. If you just count how many times they were together or talking about each other it may be less than 10, but each of those times was significant. The Broadway show, Halloween, Koharu's departure, Asahi thinking of her when the topic of romance is brought up. And even if you say that only Subaru has the most relevance to the girls, he needs his three friends to support him (in the form of teasing). Otherwise his own feelings may be forgotten.

When I said 'kinda' there, I meant that they were shallow, only used for heterosexual ship tease, and convenient plot devices, and characters that quickly became irrelevant once their purpose of the day as 'mentor of the day' ended and the student of the episode grew as a character.

And even their purpose wasn't something that couldn't have been handled by, say, S4 or the teachers. In the latter's case it'd give them actual teaching or guiding to do instead of popping up every now and then and in the former, more character development.

I see you're not considering it being intentional. In episode 1, there's a big point of Yume not realizing Subaru was even an idol. This was intentional, and set the tone for their entire relationship, with Yume only acknowledging him much later in the series.

We know very little about the boys division, so both of us can only speculate. Maybe they only wear their uniforms for ceremonial occasions. We didn't see the rest of the people in their school because they weren't important to the girls. And from seeing how M4 stays the same after graduation they clearly play by different rules. You can assume they should be the same as S4, but they aren't.

It's simply a different idea. Now idols start with generic coords from brands and use glitter to change them up, but like before Premium Rares are one of a kind. They can make them only with PR glitter. Though that makes me wonder where the special grade-up glitter comes from for everyone who isn't part of a school. Thinking about it, unlike in OG where adults played a guiding and unique role, in Stars they tried to do away with them as much as they could and just have the senior students mostly fill that role, with whatever holes are left with just lol self-produce.

Moroboshi tried to help Yume but he's a total sperg. What's her name even if I think she's a terrible character at least tried to help Rola. Momoko's only real moment has been on a flashback when she was trying to help Tsubasa. I don't remember anything with Tamagoro and Afro might as well not exist.

Adult characters from outside Yotsuboshi also are sparse, there's the TV guy who appeared a lot at first and the lady who's the president of the takoyaki company but she has never done much.

It's a very distinct difference between Stars and OG.
