A talented but zero common sense literal autist won over the beautiful hard working girl

What the fuck? Is the message of this series is that having talent but putting in no work > putting in effort and doing your best?
Because that is just bullshit. Fuck the MC, fuck Mashiro the autist, and fuck every other character but Aoyama.

Yes, that's why I liked it - it is representative of reality.

Aoyama a best though. Great character.
>>
>>155520840
>Is the message of this series is that having talent but putting in no work > putting in effort and doing your best?
But Mashiro puts a lot of work? Whole her life? To the point of being non-functional?

the message of this show is that worst girl always loses
>>
>>155520840
>Is the message of this series is that having talent but putting in no work > putting in effort and doing your best?
Yes. If you do your best but still end up doing bad, you'd better do something else.
>>
>>155520840
Protag-kun does deserve neither of them. Such a faggot.
>>
>>155521028

What made Sorata so much worse than your average protagonist in this genre? He seemed more like a hapless idiot than anything else to me, yet /a/ seems to hate him with a passion any time this show is mentioned.

This is what nips believe. Believing in success as a result of talent is an oversimplified self-defensive idea.
It's understandable why nips believing in that if you look closely at their society.

>>
>>155521165
>>155521284
>you'll at least get something in return, even if it wasn't exactly what you hoped.
You'll get an experience in return. An experience of fucking up and wasting your time. Rationalizing that it was still a good idea is human nature, we are faulty at admitting our wrongs.

>Not my fault you don't put any real effort into anything in your life.
I'll speak for my case. I barely ever studied and aced exams simply by listening to lectures and being smart. I got to my STEM MSc. by being good at crunching numbers.
I've seen people study all night. I tutored some, even. They've invested great effort and yet, they had bad grades or failed
>>
I can't really remember what happened at the end of the series, but I'm pretty sure they all moved past not managing to instantly find success before they'd even left education, right?

Just going to say as a Korean, I am highly offended with that Psy doujin.

I disagree with the anon you were replying to too, but I think you're being a bit too cynical here. Sometimes experience can be very valuable. But you often waste a lot of time and money acquiring it. I suppose your assessment of its worth depends how valuable that experience proves to be in the future.

>>155521497
This is true. And he did sperg the fuck out in the last few episodes.
>>
>>155521392
>Just because you work hard at something doesn't mean you are guaranteed success though. That's an incredibly entitled view.
You aren't guaranteed with what you expected, but it amounts to SOMETHING if you put your ass into it and serioius about whatever you are workings towards.
>>
>>155521468
>I can't really remember what happened at the end of the series
You're better off. Everything after the Christmas episode is a trainwreck.

>>155521550
>but it amounts to SOMETHING if you put your ass into it and serioius about whatever you are workings towards.
I've seen people put their life and soul into college courses they are not suited to and get nowhere. In some cases doing so actually had a long term negative impact on their mental health, so not even the experience they gained was worth while.
>>
>>155520840
Isn't that just reality itself? There's always someone out there who can input less effort to create a better result. Nanami and Sorata just had the misfortune of having that someone around them every day - like a big shitty reminder.
>>
>>155521606
>they are not suited to and get nowhere
I guess I agree with this but people shouldn't work towards something they aren't suited for in the first place.

I'd go out of my mind if had to be around somebody that superior to me every day.

>>155521690
>but people shouldn't work towards something they aren't suited for in the first place.
True, but this is often something you can't know beforehand and only learn when it is too late. In the context of third level education, I consider this to be one of the biggest failures of the modern education system.
>>
>>155520840
I don't think it's supposed to have a message. But if you want to see one, it's not about effort and success in general, because the show is very shallow when it comes to this. It's rather that no matter how much efforts you put into being a nice and hardworking girl, it's no guarantee your crush will reciprocate your feelings, which is sensible.

>>
>>155521706
Sadly, "talent". The only thing I ever "worked hard" for was to learn english. Now I'm in one of my country's most "elite" prep schools (kinda hard to translate into english since it has no equivalent in either the US or the UK). This course has a reputation for making you work like a dog, and I'm ahead of 2/3rds of my class by just reading my notes the night before the exam. Thing with talent is, unless you're a one in a million type genius, you'll just be a little better than most people but you won't be the best in your field. You actually have to work to get to that point, because all of those are people with talent who also work their asses off.
I keep taking on more and more difficult tasks to finally get to my "breaking point", where I will have to work, but instead it always takes me like 3 months to get on the "average level" of my studies and then the progress stops. Thing is, without hard work you won't ever get to do anything interesting.

/blogshit
>>155520840
Yeah this is nip mentality at its finest, but it can be true in the music scene, where many, many people work themselves almost to death just to get steamrolled by some dickwad genius, though the dickwad genius usually works hard as well.

That's pretty much all stories aimed towards anyone under the age of 18, and arguably for anyone older. Everyone wants to read/watch things they couldn't normally have/do in their real lives. I personally like stories with a bit of balance between the two, of wish fulfillment and what really would happen.

In threads like this, I love how everyone acts like your talent is fucking fixed or something, while potential can be pretty damn volatile. >>155526961

>>
>>155527046
Yeah, I have a feeling most of these people who claim to have talent only say so because they found a couple of people worse than them. In reality, it's much more likely that they're average at best, and they just don't want their self-esteem hurt to see actual people better than them at whatever.

>>
>>155527185
You're right, it is. But surely the significance of losing the ability to utilise a talent demonstrates its importance? So long as you posess talent and the ability to utilise it, it makes some sense to regard those with talent as superior in a sense. Also, the idea of loss of talent as an equaliser is only true so long as you don't make the assumption that people are only superior because of talent alone. Someone isn't necessarily better than you at someting because they happen to be talented, which is where the whole aspect of hard work comes in. Just because someone talented loses the ability to utilise it doesn't suddenly mean you're as good as them.
>>
>>155527314
No, it's just that the type of person who hangs around /a/ (used to be 4chan as a whole but not so much these days) is typically an above-average intellect, zero motivation underachiever with obscure and deranged hobbies.

In some regards this is true. But the harsh reality of the real world is that there is always someone better who had to work less to get there. Not even intelligent hard work can elevate someone to an equivalent point to someone who has talent.

What you have struggled for and achieved may have value in and of itself, but it may not amount to what you wanted.
>>
>>155527499
Cool but where would you rate yourself then?
>>
>>155527422
>Just because someone talented loses the ability to utilise it doesn't suddenly mean you're as good as them.
I mean, I guess it makes sense that hard work obviously comes into play, but I'm just saying that the playing field is now even.

If someone was very smart, but happened to live in Flint and get lead poisoning, and if you're also dumb, then you two will both have to struggle to learn things anyways. The boost from being naturally smart is gone, just like that.
>>
>>155527636

It's too hard to judge talent until you get into the workforce. It's otherwise all talk or meaningless marks

I completely disagree. I believe that "talent" in the sense of being born in this world with inherent proficiency in a subject or field is just straight wrong. It's honestly your mindset and your way of thinking that determines how well you'll do when you start on something for the first time. It's all about how you were raised and how you were taught to think in childhood that influences your "talent" whether that is your parents, teachers, or even an initial interest in a subject. If someone grew up around engineers as parents and was around them everyday, they'll passively hear all the jargon, concepts, and to influence their developing brain and give them an edge in that area. That is how prodigies work. However they were raised by their parents or guardians or what environment they grew up in, it has a significant influence on their way of thinking that'll help them understand certain subjects of learning better than others. It doesn't have to be directly influenced by the parents either. If a kid has nothing to do all day and comes across a book on a particular topic, they could end up reading it and enjoy it, and want to continue learning about it from a young age and be influenced in that way. You aren't born with inherent talent when it comes to your mind. This is of course excluding the mentally handicapped which is just an outlier and a whole other subject entirely. I'm talking about the average human. It hurts to hear about you guys talking about talent as being determined from birth. As if there is a deterministic fate that binds us to a certain destiny, doomed to the life we have. As if we don't have control over our own life. Because it simply isn't true. This doesn't mean that you can't learn another skill and be proficient in it, this doesn't mean you can't have a different and additional talent to what you already have. If you want to be better at something, then do everything in your power to achieve it.
>>
talent is a meme.
for example, an artist can draw better waifus than you not because he has a talent, but because he learn how to do it while you are put "effort" on masturbating and watching anime.
in the end it all depends on who is learned how to do things better.

Am I the only one here who actually liked the mc? I found him relatable, not because of the romance aspect of course, but because of his struggle to make something of himself. As someone who's close to two really talented people, I understood the frustration of trying your hardest to get a job or position and not being good enough, while those around you succeed seemingly effortlessly. Eventually you're forced to face the truth that at a certain point there are people who are born to succeed and people who aren't, and struggling against that is tireless and depressing.

Stop being so naive.
They fucked. Hot, steamy, passionate, missionary sex.

Isn't fucking a retard/autist/loony considered sexual abuse?

This is why I couldn't have friends. Though understandably, after some point I become too much of a faggot to tolerate because of my success combo.

Now that I get fired and got myself a career setback which is nigh impossible to overcome, I may get some friends. R-right?
>>
>>155531153
Please, every virgin sex is arguably just a teenage sex.
>>
>>155520840
No, the message is that life isn't fair. They also were in different fields, and making it as a seiyuu is tough. The same thing happened in Shirobako - everyone except the aspiring seiyuu was working professionally.

Both Mashiro and the genki girl who wanted to be an anime director or whatever had autistic work ethics as well, so it's not like they didn't work hard.
>>
>>155531245
>I may get some friends. R-right?
>Implying we can obtain friends just like that.
Acquaintances are easy, you have a list in your fb.
Friends? Good luck with that. There is a high chance they already forgot you.
And you do you think you are to be concerned with?
>>
>>155531439
Why aspiring seiyuu must always suffer? Is this supposed to be some sort of meta commentary too?
>>
>>155531251
I'm not familiar with any sex though.

>>155531579
I expected that Zuka-chan in Shirobako would suffer far more than she did. She even had a similar hairstyle to Aoyama.
>>
>>155526961
literal sociopath
>>
>>155531579
I dunno.
>>
>>155531579
Was Sore ga Seiyuu also about suffering?
>>
>>155531635
Well yes, at least she actually managed to get a role at the end, which is surprising considering shirobako had to a certain extent a more realistic approach to things, Zuka should have ended like Aoyama abandoning her dreams after realizing she had no talent nor luck in life
>>
>>155531827
What little it had about actual seiyuu stuff was sorta suffering, yes, but for the most part it didn't take itself too seriously so they put little to no effort in whatever they were doing so it felt inconsequential, like most SoL

Until episode 23 I was convinced that they were going with that conclusion to her arc. In retrospect it was a bit cynical to think so considering the rather positive tone of series.

>ITT untalented plebs that think that proficiency is an act of god
>>
>>155533407
Sorry we all can't be as talented as you, anon. Shouldn't you be off wowing crowds somewhere?
>>
>>155522319
Problem with talent is you get used to it, for thought of buying a new car is much more fun than actually getting a new car, same with talent and basically everything.
I used to do cycling and coaches said I could've easily made pro, at the same time I didn't feel as if I was lucky to be that talented.
Basically its like living in 1st world and haveing african kids wondering why ppl are choosing suiside when they are "lucky"
>>
if the MC is as awful as that, you don't consider that a 'win'

It also helped that I did the SAT IIs and he didn't.

But yeah, I'm very sure I won the luck lottery.

That's how it usually works out though.
>>
>>155520840
It's not just talented vs hard working it's talented + hard working vs just hard working. Mashiro probably worked harder than Aoyama. It's easy for us "normal" people to just call it "talanted" and ignore all the hard work she's putting into her drawings.
>>
>>155540179
one chuuni to go with extra dip please

Some people are naturally talented at what they choose to pursue though and have to put in very little work.

Nice quints.

I have an amazing memory for music. I can remember the tunes and in some cases lyrics to music years later after having heard it. It's undoubtedly my one true talent, but I don't know how to play any instruments at all. What a waste, huh?
