Koe no Katachi is not only a bad manga overall, but it's particularly crap as a heartwarming romance. Bluballed fake confessions, jealous triangles, melodrama out the ass, timeskip ending with no proper closure to the relationship, etc.

Yes, you're right, I completely forgot the main topic of the thread, sorry. It's definitely not a heartwarming manga. However, it's not in any way a bad manga. In fact, if you think about it, the manga is not about romance at all, so I don't think that it needed to focus on it. Also, the premise is pretty dramatic, so I don't think that it being dramatic or even melodramatic is a valid critique. Anyways, I posted off-topic so I am sorry for that.

That's going too far. There is a major romantic dynamic playing into it - again, you've got the blueballed confession and the entire Ueno-jealousy stuff - and they fail to play out / wrap up that aspect. That's a serious flaw, you can't just dismiss it because there are other things going on besides romance.

I would like to personally back these selections up as I've read them and enjoyed the hell out of them. I see a lot of romance manga in here that are in fact pretty shit and full of nothing but melodrama and disappointing endings, so I just thought I'd give anyone looking for a good pick-me-up a second opinion. If you pick up any of these manga you're in for a good time, in my opinion.

The teacher/student couple in 14-sai is fucking godlike.

It involved a girl who was super shy but wanted to fall in love, so some fairy gave her a bracelet that would guarantee that she fell in love if she filled out all the tasks it demanded of her.
