If you're Murcan you can always go to Chicago because of Riding Bean or DC because of Eden of the East, or London for the K-On movie if you're a Brit.

Outside of K-ON or Kiniro Mosaic any other Britbong locations I could go too? I'm pretty sure 501's base was in Dover somewhere but it is a secret location. They didn't exactly make any of the scenes look inciting enough to want to visit like in Brave Witches though.

Well anon first you have to live a perfectly healthy lifestyle, study your ass off, use life extension technology to become immortal, take over the world, and use your overwhelming power to develop virtual worlds that are indistinguishable from real anime worlds. At that point you will have achieved your dream. It's incredibly possible, you just have to dedicate every waking moment of your life to achieving it.

It's not in the middle of the sea, that photo is framed so you can't see that it's a stone's throw from the coast. It's called a "tidal island", when the tide goes out you can walk to it.

In the 19th century there was a causeway to it that was permanently above the water. They built a bridge a few years ago.

I'll be in Takayama (for Hyouka and to Shirakawa-go for Higurashi) around 28.04-01.05. Planning to do some pilgrimages around tokyo area (YnS - been to Hanno in 2015 but going for mt. Takao this time around), pinpointed the mountain park from Hibike S1 around Kyoto, mandatory visit to Omi Jingu for Chihayafuru (been there in 2016), possibly a short break in Washinomiya (Lucky Star) from tokyo as well (been there in 2015) and maybe Chichibu for Anohana (been there in 2015). Hanno was nice with that small beginer-tier mountain in their backyard and that awesome small crevice near the park after library. I hope you;ll enjoy it, good luck!

People got burned badly (12 of them badly, noone died though) and a lot mildly. I was convinced I will die out of smoke inside, and tought about the Himiyazawa curse. After we finally got to Takayama by police afterwards, the first thing I did was go to the takayama jinja and bought some fucking protection amulets. Best buy ever.

The small island of Murano is definitely worth visiting if you do go to Venice. The glass collections in shop windows are brilliant but ridiculously pricey. The museum was quite nice too.

>>155402415

It's worth a visit but not the sort of place you'd really want to go back to. It is a massive tourist destination and everything is extremely expensive. People talk about a 'lingering' unpleasant smell (which is what you'd expect with so many open waterways) but it wasn't too terrible. Probably worse depending on the time of year.

I visited some "also-seen-in-anime" places while in nihon.
Even the kyo-ani studio. It was quite nice.
There were some girls there who probably visited because they watched free.

Neat, somebody saved my pic.

That delta's been in a lot of animu, including the confession scene in Tamako Love Story, once or twice in Uchouten Kazuko, and many times in Tatami Galaxy. The main character's boarding house is right behind the Demachiyanagi Eizan train station immediately east of the delta.

It costs you less than US$2000 a week in japan, if you're willing to stay in shady airbnb lodging and eat nothing but rice everyday.
>>
>>155428097
You say that like it's not that much money.

Consider the ticket price (I'm assuming it's from america) : 2000$
2000 a week for a miserable time and shit food
I'm going to say a good trip would be 2 weeks at least if you want to visit many places.

So that's 6000$.

Now the person said he didn't have any money. I'm assuming he'd rather keep the damn 6k and save that for rainy days than to waste it on a miserable trip.

$2000 includes plane tickets, lodging, food, and train fares. It's assumed that the person is not buying souvenir and only take photos.

Yea, unless he decides to also have 1 or 2 stops within the US. I was once looking at tickets from NY to SEA and they had a flight that sent me to chicago then made me wait 19 hours then put me on a flight to Seattle. But it was dirt cheap.

It's kind of the opposite, actually. It's not like someone is going to run up to a random stranger on the street and stab them. Theft is the bigger issue and you're more aware of you're surroundings when traveling alone. In a group you're more likely to be distracted talking among each other, making you an easier target for things like pickpocketing.

On that note, its really worthwhile to check out all of the islands of the lagoon, especially since you get much of the same Venice feeling without as many crowds. Murano as mentioned has beautiful glass and top tier history, Burano is like Murano but with lace, Torcello is understated but has Byzantine murals and the oldest signs of settlement, Chioggia is like a mini-Venice with much less crowding, Lido is really nice for affordable lodging and simple layout, and Poveglia has got the spooky shit going on.

It's literally shit.
Now, I myself drink it sometimes, when I'm at the bar and don't know what to order, but if you're a tourist who gets to spend only a few days in Italy you're retarded if you drink that shit. It's like going to New York and drinking rum and cola with shitty rum.

>In Alto Adige e a Trieste con "spritz" ci si riferisce ancora alla maniera originale austriaca, ossia con vino bianco e acqua frizzante, mentre la ricetta attuale con l'aggiunta di un bitter viene chiamata "veneziano".
Apparently in places under the austrians the name still refers to the old recipe without the bitter and white wime instead of Prosecco. I assume what you're referring to comes from a balcanic coutnry which was as well once under the austrians.

Yes, it's very popular among the older folks here in Slovenia in the regions where Austrian influence is still strong, less so in the parts that are culturally closer to the other Balkan nations.
I kind of wonder if any anime ever took notice of anything further south than Austria but more east than Italy, which has plenty of anime as far as I know - Aria, an arc in Index and the others mentioned in the thread.
>>
>>155447116
There's also a dispute for the origin of Prosecco between Veneto and Slovenia.

Well, Greece has many anime but I don't think any other balkan country is featured in one.

I'm inclined to believe it's Venetian. Gorizia/Gorica was historically Venetian and that's where it originates, according to Wikipedia. Can't really claim something based purely on geographic location.
I've heard people argue about who Prosciutto belongs to as well. Since we can't argue about land, I guess food is the next best thing.
That's to be expected I suppose, we don't really have much to attract the nips here.

I dunno, the balkans are probably one of the most genuine and less touristic influenced places left in Europe.

I do agree with you though. I just recently went on a trip by myself to visit some friends in Montenegro and it's fascinating just how many people will start conversations with you completely naturally out of curiosity.
It was September but most of the really interesting historic locations were pretty empty. I think the combination of people not being able to speak English very well, on average at least, with the Cyrillic boogeyman scares people off.

>>
>>155452144
I know people who have done the trip and they say it's pretty great.
My suggestion is that if you go through Montenegro, stop in Cetinje - you can spend the night fairly cheap there, there's a hostel called La Vecchia Casa that has an English-speaking landlord. It's 14€ per night and the rooms are actually top quality - it's much better than Podgorica. That place is a socialist shithole from what I saw of it, while Cetinje is the old royal capital and small enough that you can see all of it in three days if you're efficient.

Slovenia has Bled (highly touristy), Bohinj lake, Logarska dolina is beautiful for a motorcycle trip, Soča river, Zelenci, Perniško lake, the Pohorje region if you're into wine and other stuff I can't remember right now.

And for the love of god, avoid gypsies like the plague. They sic their kids on you at gas stops trying to wash your windshield and other shit.

Sorry for the late story:

I was returning back by the last NIOH bus, it;s one of the busses that goes to Shirakawa-go from Takayama station and loops. After a day of full service while it was relatively warm (~20'C, sunny and nice for the time), and during around golden week, it was well used up after the day and there was a lot of people on board (extra seats had been added in the middle). I managed to get in as one of the last people on board, sat in the 2/3 in left sear (looging from rear of the bus), near the window. I had not checked the window, as it was well ventilated and got comfy listening to mogra rip from December 2015, the one with Porter. It was calm, the ride was going well, it's a hilltop ride through a lot of tunnels and spirals. After the last tunel, something exploded two rows of seats in front of me to the right. In second or two, the whole bus was filled with hissing smoke, so thick I couldn't even see the outside of the glass window, and barely saw people in row in front of me. Panic immedietly kicked in, people were screaming, yelling for the driver to stop, but he kept full speed instead and just fuicking kept driving, ins shock possibly. Now, normally, in eurofagia or anywhere civilised, there's this nice hammer to fucking break the window and escape. In japan, their busses are like in mainland china - unsecured, with windows non opening, no safety measures at all (a contra to their magnificent state of the art train system I deeply love). My window wasn't buldging. Couldn't open it, despite all my strenght. Around 5-7 seconds passed since the explosion, I wasn't seeing anything, I got hazy from the smoke, I started banging on the window with my fists, then tried to pluck it open with my feet, but to no avail. The moment I tought - that's it, I am loosing strenght, there's no escape, I got cursed or something. A window opened in front, a gush of fresh air lined with windows.

>They sic their kids on you at gas stops trying to wash your windshield and other shit.
Good thing I have a naked with nothing to wash, then.

(cont).
After I was able to breathe again, I helped some people hop off the window. Got out myself, helped some lady to get out. Got my bag for some reason. Other people got out. We all sat on the sideroad, exhausted, while the inside of the bus was still smoked and something was hissing loudly.

Fast forward - in 45min, there were ~10 ambulances, 4 fire brigade trucks, an helicopter, some small police vehicles and various shit, all on signal. They segregated people by injury types, I was lucky I got only minor scratches and was stinking of some bizarre gasoline or cooling fluid.

Apparently, the heat distribution system boiled and started ablaze, then exploded inside the bus under one of the seats, from extra weight the bus was supporting for the n-th ride this day. Around 12 people ended up in hospital with more injuries, noone died. If it was "real smoke", we would all be dead in some crevice near the road there, thanks to private bus company that never heard of safety standards in buses. I considered the rest of my 3week trip a "i am glad to be alive" event and went on more anime pilgrimages, but first bought protection amulets from the temple in Takayama.

End of story. I think it was the curse after all.

The landlord and his mother both speak Italian. The Montenegrin royal line had a few marriages with the Italian royalty. Jelena Petrović Njegoš, also known as Jelena Savojska was actually the Queen of Italy during the time Mussolini took over.
The Montenegrins love the Njegoš dynasty, you'll see the name all over Cetinje.
It's weird because Italy occupied Montenegro during WW2, but that's why people speak Italian often. Probably.
Italian also screams high-class and brings in rich tourists who spook at dirty Slavic languages.
Another thing to remember to avoid any confusion, Montenegro is Crna Gora in Montenegrin/Serbian.
>>
>>155452771
Right? On the other side, now I know why there are tons of "tragic bus accidents of a school trip" in every second or fourth series there is. When I was waiting for the transport for 3h, I recalled Little Busters and almost started to laugh maniacally when I realised my adrenaline rush was wearing off, but I didn't have to be stuck in near-death dreamstate saving various girls from their own personal demons, in order to save my friends. Well fuck japanese bus companies, especialy Nioh or something.

No, it sucks.
>>
>>155429758

>>
>>155453187
I really wonder why they don't have them. Made me traumatised enough to check if window opens whenever I am on the bus. And I never sit on the right side.

As for cute girls and "tasukete~" - there were some lolis, but they kept quiet and were just around their parents. Some cakes on out of town golden week outing as well. And lots of chinese oba-chan's. No cute schoolgirls needing the help of long-haired gajin, unfortunetly.

On the other hand, I talked for two hours with a japanese ojisan, outdoor-type cameraman, who I saw first in Shirakawa-go's river, at the pond at the end, where I was eating my lunch and doing some photos and noticed him doing the same several meters away but just bowed heads to each others and smiled. He was nice, spoke great english and it was generally nice to exchange some info around the area. Went for Shinotaka ropeway thanks to his advice the next day, and it was lovely (without busses exploding again). He remindend me of the cameraman from Higurashi.

Oh, yeah, the queen.
For some strange reason everyone in the balkans, from Albania to Greece, seem to love us and speek some Italian despite being occupied by us. Probably only Slovenians and Croatians don't particularly like us.
You're Slovenian? What do you guys think of Italy?

TRST JE NAŠ!
Now that we got that out of the way, I'll say that I don't think we have any issues with you. Sure there are some mean names and stereotypes - namely being terrible drivers - but I've never actually heard anyone seriously speak badly about Italians. Most people are happy to meet you. Even when speaking about the Italianisation during the occupation, it's strangely relaxed in comparison to the weird slight dislike/respect for Germans you get.
I think the EU helped hugely in that regard, I couldn't imagine the atmosphere between the two nations being this relaxed if there was a legitimate border between Gorizia and Nova Gorica.
>>
>>155454344
Cont.
Funnily enough, the last of the barbed wire between the two cities only got removed in 2004 if I'm not wrong.
Most of the butthurt is focused at the rest of the ex-Yugo countries. That kind of bad blood, while not really horrible, makes the conflicts with Italy look idiotic for being so long ago, which might have actually helped in it's own bizarre way.

My family always loved Italy, my dad actually helped some Czechs sneak across the border at Gorizia back in Yugoslavia when they still shot you for crossing.

No, no one takes the few people who ask for that seriously. Austria doesn't want us because they'd have to treat Italians like a minority because of european regulations and they're racists against south tyroleans.
