Spring is here, so it's time to take one last look at Winter.
With a survey of 111 /a/nons, it's time to announce /a/'s Official™ and Objective™ AOTS 2017 Winter.
Categories include best anime, worst anime, most surprising anime, most disappointing anime, best OP, best ED, best OST, best scene, best girl, best boy, best seiyuu, shows watched, and shows dropped.
The announcements will start below and the complete data sheet will be posted at the end so you can verify I'm not just making this shit up.
And remember, none of this matters anyway because your taste is superior and you've always known /a/ had shit taste.

Seiren - It really wasn't that bad at all. Tsuneki's arc was great overall despite the bad end. Tooru was half-decent. Kyouko was awesome. MC's faggotry was amusing.
Akiba's Trip - Most fun show in a while
Ao no Exorcist: Kyoto Fujouou-hen - Never has there been a show that inspired more hope in me than this, because it proves than any series, no matter how shit and no matter how hard it bombs, can get another season.

Full Results are here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1rK162jMERCBzPvT2ohZUsqt3yHoX_D0qAZAptV02rQE/edit?usp=sharing
On the poll with a much larger sample size:
>Kemono Friends - 448 votes
>Konosuba - 361 votes
>Maid Dragon - 273 votes
>Little Witch Academia - 214 votes
>Youjo Senki - 153 votes
>Demi-chan wa Kataritai - 112 votes
>Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu: Sukeroku Futatabi-hen - 105 votes
But before you start shitposting about the results, here are some alternative measures that address some of the more common complaints so that you can damage control even harder.
>but what if a dedicated fanbase were the only people who liked a show, that's not representative of /a/
This is why we did the top five with points values. This way shows that made it into a lot of people's top 5 will get recognized more than a show that was only won 1st place votes.
1 - Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! 2 - 88 points
2 - Little Witch Academia (TV) - 83 points
3 - Kemono Friends - 77 points
3 - Kobayashi-san Chi no Maidragon - 77 points

WE DID IT
>but popular shows will obviously get more votes than hidden gems even if their quality isn't as good
This is what the AOTY - Weighted field is for. It takes the total number of votes a show received (filtered to those who also filled out the Completed field) and divides it by the percentage of people who gave it a shot (completed + dropped). This equalizes the votes as if each show had the same viewership.
That makes it a bit more fair, but it also introduces inaccuracies from the lower sample size (a lot of people didn't bother with the completed fields) and has a tendency to skew extremely low viewership shows to unrealistic numbers.
1 - Yowamushi Pedal: NEW GENERATION - 1 vote, totalling 33 weighted votes, 3 completed (3.06%), 0 dropped (0%)
2 - Kemono Friends - 19 votes, totalling 28 weighted votes, 48 completed (48.98%), 8 dropped (8.16%)
3 - Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu: Sukeroku Futatabi-hen - 6 votes, totalling 27 weighted votes, 17 completed (17.35%), 1 dropped (1.02%)
3 - Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! 2 - 18 votes, totalling 56 weighted votes, 48 completed (57.14%), 3 dropped (3.06%)

>/a/'s Official™ and Objective™ AOTS 2017 Winter
>not the moest and yuriest anime, Urara Meirochou
>but the poll is overrun by casuals whose votes shouldn't be counted
To account for this, I made new fields to filter out votes from people who didn't complete a certain number of shows per season. This should give results from only the serious fans without including all of those filthy casuals who definitely don't comprise a large portion of our board.
The main problem with this is sample size.
>5 shows per season
Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! 2 - 13
Kemono Friends - 12
Little Witch Academia (TV) - 10
>10 shows
Kemono Friends - 7 votes
Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! 2 - 5 votes
Little Witch Academia (TV) - 4 votes
>15 shows
ACCA: 13-ku Kansatsu-ka - 3 votes
>20 shows
ACCA: 13-ku Kansatsu-ka - 3 votes
>25 shows
Kuzu no Honkai, Little Witch Academia (TV), Gabriel DropOut - 1 vote each
>30 shows
Kuzu no Honkai, Little Witch Academia (TV), Gabriel DropOut - 1 vote each
And the WAOTS with the same filters:
>5 shows
1 - Hand Shakers - 7
2 - Kobayashi-san Chi no Maidragon - 5
2 - Masamune-kun no Revenge - 5
Weighted
1 - SUPER LOVERS 2 - 98 votes, 1 completed (1.02%), 0 dropped (0%)
2 - Yowamushi Pedal: NEW GENERATION - 33 votes, 3 completed (3.06%), 0 dropped (0%)
3 - ēlDLIVE - 27 votes, 4 completed (4.08%), 7 dropped (7.14%)

My Little Kemonies proxied the shit out of that one.
>>155368826
I don't even believe there are that many people on /a/
Well, the turnout this time was horribly low. I don't know if people just don't care about doing all this for a seasonal vote or if they're just tired of it, but, judging by number of votes, thread activity, and mod response, it seems like /a/ is more interested in simple strawpolls than a comprehensive survey.
I only did this because /a/ seemed to want it, but I'm not going to keep bothering people with something no one cares about anymore, so I'll stop now. It's been fun.
Finally, I just wanted to let you all know that you have shit taste and no matter what you say the real AOTYs wereHoukago no PleiadesandAnge Vierge.
Wow. Unoriginal moe anime with repeated tropes, poor soundtrack and copied character designs won AOTS on /a/ again!??
Who would've guessed!
>>155369278
It was actually Konosuba fans going full autismo considering it went from somewhere equal to Maid Dragon to suddenly gaining 100 more votes in less than an hour.
>>155369337
You have good taste, but your survey is gay. Only newfags care for this "official /a/ AOTY" meme enough to answer it, especially when you need a botnet account.
>>155369337
Fuck, I liked your survey.
>Houkago no Pleiades
Excellent taste.
>>155369337
I think surveys are fun, but I don't care enough about what other /a/nons think to bother with this kind of survey, sorry. Strawpoll is good enough for me.
>>155369337
The poll is a good idea, but the execution isn't right because not everyone watched all the shows of the season, should have taken into account the percentage of people that watched each show for each vote:
Like for example OSTOTS, 11 people voted for LWA, but that's because 72% of the people watched it, most of them didn't watch the other shows so they don't know how good the OST of the other ones were. If you count the votes individually for each show, then here it would be 11/72 aprox. 1/7 of people that watched LWA said it has OSTOTS.
Then check Urara, 33% watched it, and 5 voted OSTOTS, so that would be 5/33 aprox. 1/6 of the people that watched Urara said it has the OSTOTS.
And you know 1/6 > 1/7
So really, using the votes without trying to balance the shows because all of them had different number of viewers, doesn't give accurate results.
>>155369970
but strawpoll is all fake. every time there is strawpoll, I load up my proxy software and give it like 60 votes to my favorite girl/ show of the season
>>155370679
I did that for the AOTS and WAOTS, albeit by a slightly different mathematical method, but even there the results get fucked up by low sample sizes. Even fewer people vote for the other categories, so they suffer from that even more. And at the end of the day, the results are a measure of popularity since trying to find an objective best is a fool's errand. The best is whatever you think it is.
Also, your math is wrong, if you include people who dropped it anyway. I put the same weighted filter on OST and LWA is still above Urara by a couple votes, though the real winner would be Fuuka.
>>155371192
I don't care if it's fake, I do it for the fun.
And I doubt this one is any more accurate. With all the harsh criticism LWA is receiving, it makes no sense for it to be first.
>>155367806
the results are not official
>>155372014
>And at the end of the day, the results are a measure of popularity since trying to find an objective best is a fool's errand.
That's why any serious "award" nominates things and then asks the voters to watch/read every single nominated work. I'm not saying it's feasible on /a/, but even Reddit did it and it gave interesting results, pretty different from their other poll that was open to everyone.
