I think they should have kept the older tone style to REALLY match with the original, but you can clearly see that the color scale was brightened up much further than the original mainly.

It's more akin to modern anime but eh, its not BAD but I do prefer the older color brightness scheme for my sweet nostalgia.

It's not bad at all, looks great. The only way it could be better is if they gave up digital animation altogether just to appeal to nostalgia, but requesting that is pretty ridiculous.

I worry more about where Clear Card is going story-wise. I have zero faith in modern CLAMP to not rope all their universes together in an attempt to keep a franchise going.

No where near the same league. Type Moon is trying to cash in on a fad, but CLAMPverse is trying to tie works together in a way that keeps them all relevant.

In some ways Type Moon does it better because you know right away if a series is going to be part of the continuity and where it's going to fall. We have no clue where CLAMP works fall in the universe or if they're even going to be tied in. Kobato's twist came out of no where, and I'm worried Clear Card might do the same.

I think it's canon that Sakura gives the star rod away at some point to another alt-universe Sakura So it might tie into that.
