I am not expecting much but I did enjoy everything Aoki has done aside from AZ, but from what I've read of the production process for it, it seemed like a clusterfuck, especially in the second season where reportedly staff weren't coming in.
But that aside I wonder if this will be big or be forgotten. Rei Hiroe's heroines are popular in the west at least, so maybe waifu magic can sustain it in popularity over here. I don't know if fujos are going to be into it and buy it but they surprise me with the stuff they get behind sometimes.

I actually believe Aoki Ei to be a good director. He did a great job with the first Kara no Kyoukai movie to get people engaged in the series, and turned an average LN like Zero into something fun. Aoki is a competent director because he focuses on the right things while adapting, and he did that with KnK and Zero. Maybe working on original series isn't very good for him because he doesn't know what people like from it and what should he be focusing in.

This is a retarded line of thought. The visuals in Aldnoah were well received, and the OST was popular too so blaming Troyca and Sawano is stupid.

The reason why people hated Aldnoah was the frustrating writing with stupid gimmicks, Aoki himself made some decisions for the story that just made it all the more frustrating. He even wanted to make Slaine suffer more in the ending and the others had to convince him otherwise so the fans don't set him on fire.

Not true. He wrote the first draft when F/Z was still airing back in early 2012. Back then Iwakami was attached as producer and Urobuchi's idea was to do Monster hunter but with robots while Aoki wanted a traditional mecha story.
Read the interview on the A.Z site, the story was a team effort:
