I like to think that the mangaka wishes she had the social connections and money to obtain drugs in order to boost her creativity however is too busy drawing manga and going further down the rabbit hole to care. Her editor is probably not even glancing at the work he gets, because he has no idea why it sells and neither does anyone else, so the whole absurd situation just plays itself out with no one knowing where anything is going and just sort of hoping that someone watching somehow gets the desire to continue supporting it.
Sometimes I think about what would happen if the mangaka actually got the drugs.
