I think the anime showing Mirai's hair in her hat helps narrow down the time between the evacuation of the humans and Kaban's birth.

1. How long until human hair degrades into nothing? If it's still 'fresh' enough to stay like that in an exposed environment like the savannah, wouldn't it be a safe bet to say that humans evacuating the island could have happened not more than 10 years ago?

2. The solar panels also offer a clue. Yes there was that scene where it showed a rusting crane in the jungle lodge but solar panels themselves degrade in efficiency over time. afaik they stop being useful after 30 years. If the panels in the cafe and the lodge still give out almost near maximum efficiency (since the ones in the cafe were able to charge the bus battery in a relatively short amount of time and still able to heat water), it may not have been more than 5 years when they were first installed.

Here we have to recall the ghost of Mirai in episode 11, trappped by Boss. The idea is that something in the physical world, like Serval (remember, she's still half animal half human, not a pure human who freed herself from the material), is able to stop the ascension of the soul to higher planes. This is about both physical death and real death, because the characters are alive until someone remember them, because existing in the brain of someone is equivalent to existing at all.
Serval is still a selfish animal, she forced the Bag and stay suffer in the samsara. Mirai is connected to this. First of all she appears to remind everyone that time is not a circle, it's spiral. Things looks similar to what happened in the past, but they are not. If we talk about Mirai we need to talk about her hair. Now, Bag is genetically identical to Mirai, but she's different. On a simple layer this means that your genes are less important than your life. On a deeper layer, this is about mind vs matter. Mirai and Kaban have the same matter, but they are different because they have different brains aka they had different memories and experiences. I am not sure I rememeber right, but there was a similar but opposite story by Lovecraft, where the body changed but the mind stayed the same.

This is easy. First of all Kaabn's desire to explore, to know, and change goal as soon as she finds the answer, are there to indicate how humanity is never happy with what it has. The owls interrupt her because wisdom wants to stop people from their limitless search. Kaban still leaves though, and was going to die without water and food in the sea until the Friends arrived. Now, on the surface there is a reference to crazy explorers who died in the sea exploring, but the deeper meaning is not about geography, is about science and the almost purposeless research done.

If in the first layer humans were essentially stubborn victims, in this second layer they are the one at fault. If the first layer is physical and the second political, the third is mental. It is based on the concept itself of dinosaur. The cerulean represents then the fear of something old, weird, that sholdn't exist in our time. It's the fear of not understanding what you are looking at, and turning a giant chicken in a dragon because you are ignorant. The cerulean can't turn into rock when he touches water because he cools down in water like lava, it wouldn't make sense, so what happens can only be a reaction of mineralization. Which is exactly what turned the dinosaurs into the bones we know (or thought we know). The cerulean turning into rock is then a way to tell you that you shouldn't blindly trust the physical evidences.
The last layer, cold and hard because it's the lowest and closest to the truth, is that ceruleans stand for humans who kill friends and nature for their own gain.

I'll talk about the owls later. Now I want to focus on the lion and fox. Those two animals are symbols of rulers and thieves, of strength and cunningness. It's obvious then what the anime wanted to say when they in the end they were shown acting like lazy cunts. The wise owl is busy working on fixing their land after the war, but what are the politicians (aka the fat cats) doing? what are the criminals doing? nothing. They are waiting for the wise man to make the world a better place. On a deeper meaning, this ending indicates that intelligence and strength are nothing without wisdom.
There are a couple more things to say about Lion. We saw in episode 6 (I think) that Lion's side represented the stars and the cosmic order. Lion in its material form, the one we saw from then on, is flawed but she still has most of the qualities of her constellation. The lion thus accepts that she's not fit to be the true leader, the owls are, and she accepts her position as protector of her group, even if she's not the one at the top they are still "her girls". This is not something obvious to understand, and an animal lacking the astronomical significance of the Lion wouldn't have acted in the same way. The Lion thus represents the illuminated ruler who listen to the wise man. A quick note about Moose, she represents the girl controlling the lion in the tarot card "The Strength".

Well, I think we all agree that KF in itself is a political cartoon about an anarchist utopia. It has some transhumanist-feminist elements, for example the use of artifical wombs to create new people.
The point here, beside the birb supremacism that is everywhere in the anime, is that the owls actually matter. The idea people have of the nerd who stays in his room is completely alien here, where the man who knows his shit is accepted. The owls were in charge of theaters (helping PPP) and literature (gay wolf's manga and books), because the wise ruler knows that people need food for their mind. The owls are teaching people how to use fire to cook, and studied the japari buns, because the wise ruler knows that people need food. The owls are complete rulers, they call the shots even in the army, but they are peaceful rulers and they never forced anyone to come. It's an anarchic society, people help each other without the state using its force to force them. Who were the friends who didn't come to help? capybara and savannah slug. What does this mean? that cutouts and memes can't help you, only the friends you made along your way.
The owls teaching the friends how to use fire is crucial. They received the fire from a celestial being (the perfect human), and, being wise, didn't use for military purposes but only for peace. This is unlike Kaban, who is both the goddess of civilization and war, using fire to fight. The owls don't use fire to fight. It's evident how the ending means not only that the animals are now almost humans because they tamed fire, they are also better than humanity because they will not unleash the fire to hurt other beings.
